The current average of $7,318 CAD sits slightly below last year's $8,191 CAD.

That kind of price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make future resale expectations more conservative. If you buy at the right price now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Stronger value retention usually depends on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Dodge Journey or consider a different year?

• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest value play, the 2014 can make sense when you find a well-priced example with the right condition and history. If you're especially price-sensitive, keep an eye on comparable model years and compare the asking price against the current market range before you commit.
