Is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating suggests you may be looking at a model year that resonates strongly with shoppers who want a compact, budget-friendly crossover. The 2016 Trax’s appeal comes from its small-car manoeuvrability, higher seating position, and practical packaging, including a folding front passenger seat that helps it handle longer cargo. It was built around everyday usefulness rather than flash, with available all-wheel drive and a cabin that prioritises convenience for urban driving and light-duty versatility.

With 21.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Trax is described as part of the early run of production, with a practical, value-first formula and relatively sparse safety equipment for the year. Its straightforward setup and modest performance can work in your favour if you want a simple used crossover, but you should still pay close attention to maintenance history and condition because age and usage matter more when a vehicle was built to a budget.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Trax?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be patient and still have room to negotiate.

• Deal availability: 21.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 98 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.92% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $9,194 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

The current average of $9,358 CAD sits slightly below last year's $11,541 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Trax has become more accessible for used buyers, which can also mean future sellers may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s average. The model’s practical appeal and compact size should help keep it relevant with budget-minded shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 21.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Trax makes the most sense if you want a value-focused small crossover with practical packaging and you can find one priced near the lower end of the market. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may also be worth comparing, but the 2016 stands out when you want a balance of affordability, compact size, and everyday usefulness.
