The 2016 Mazda CX-3’s reliability case is helped by its straightforward gasoline powertrain and the fact that it was built around a compact, well-equipped package rather than a highly complex one. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright mechanical complexity and more about whether the vehicle’s small size and limited practicality still suit your needs over time.

What is the 2016 Mazda CX-3's resale value?

The current average of $13,413 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,365 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. The CX-3’s premium-leaning image and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mazda CX-3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.63% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the most accessible entry point into the CX-3’s sporty, premium-leaning formula, the 2016 is a sensible place to start. If you’re especially price-sensitive, compare nearby years and focus on the best-equipped listing in your budget rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
