Is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

The owner feedback highlights reliability, and many drivers describe the truck as dependable and trouble-free in day-to-day use. Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 23.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 289 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.34% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,195 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $19,235 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,196 CAD.

That decline suggests the truck has become more affordable for you as a buyer, but it also means a future seller may face a softer market than owners saw a year ago. If you plan to resell later, the current pricing trend points to more competition among listings and less pricing power than before. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 23.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want a well-equipped full-size pickup with strong owner approval and a softer used-market price than last year. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year may still be worth comparing, but the 2016 is the better fit when you want a balance of value, features, and buyer confidence.
