Is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.3/5 user rating points to a truck that many owners feel good about living with. Owners commonly praise its comfort, features, smooth ride, and upscale Denali trim, and the truck’s polished cabin and strong capability make it a fit if you want a work-ready pickup that still feels refined. The broad trim and powertrain range also helps if you want to tailor it to towing, commuting, or family use. Is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to dependable day-to-day comfort and a truck that many people feel confident keeping for the long haul. At the same time, some drivers report issues with the air conditioning and transmission, so you should treat a careful pre-purchase inspection as part of the process. For used buyers, that means the ownership risk is manageable, but only if you verify service history and test the truck thoroughly.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

What is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $21,623 CAD sits slightly below last year's $24,177 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit how much room there is for future appreciation. If you plan to sell later, the current trend implies resale values may remain under pressure unless demand strengthens. Even so, a well-kept truck with the right history should still attract interest from shoppers looking for a premium-feeling full-size pickup.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.56% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a strong choice if you want a well-equipped, upscale-feeling full-size pickup and you can take advantage of the softer pricing. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2016 offers a good balance of comfort, capability, and market value.
