Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 59 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.18% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,230 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $10,666 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,145 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Malibu is currently more buyer-friendly than seller-friendly, which can make it easier for you to purchase now but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If prices remain near the current level, future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. Even so, the model’s broad appeal and practical cabin should help it stay relevant in the used market.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the newer ninth-generation Malibu with a roomy cabin, useful tech, and a price that has eased, the 2016 is the stronger pick. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a lower-priced example offers similar value, but the 2016 is the better starting point if you want the newer design and a good mix of features.
