I owned a 15 Passat diesel with a 6 speed manual transmission! It was a great car and I wish I hadn’t done the recall buy back. I would love to have that car back. I currently drive a 17 Passat and also love this car, just missing the manual transmission.

Is the 2015 Volkswagen Passat a good car?
Yes — the 2015 Volkswagen Passat earns a 4.7/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its comfort, fuel efficiency, and reliability, and many also like the spacious interior for longer drives. The diesel mileage is another recurring positive theme, especially for shoppers who value efficiency on the road. With 27.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Volkswagen Passat reliable?
Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The review summary also points to reliability as a strength, with owners describing the car as dependable and suitable for long drives. At the same time, some drivers mention mechanical issues and error codes during test drives, so you should pay close attention to service history and how the car behaves under load. For used buyers, that means the long-term ownership risk looks manageable, but a careful pre-purchase inspection is still important.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Volkswagen Passat?
You’re shopping in a seller’s market, so it makes sense to act selectively and move quickly when a strong listing appears.
- Deal availability: 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 51 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 2.10% year-over-year.
If you find a listing below $10,844 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Volkswagen Passat's resale value?
The current average of $11,237 CAD sits slightly above last year's $11,006 CAD.
That upward move suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year. If you buy now and keep the car in good condition, the current pricing trend may help support a steadier resale position later. Strong demand for well-kept examples can also make it easier to sell when you’re ready to move on.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2015 Volkswagen Passat or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices are up 2.10% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want a used Passat with strong owner satisfaction, solid comfort, and a market that still shows demand, the 2015 is a sensible primary choice. If you’re especially price-sensitive, keep an eye on lower-priced listings near the bottom of the range and be ready to act quickly when one appears.
