There are 440 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2015 RAM 1500 a good car?

The 2015 RAM 1500 is a strong fit if you want a full-size pickup that leans more toward comfort and refinement than bare-bones utility, and its 3.9/5 user rating and 7.7/10 expert rating support that balanced appeal.

The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners commonly praise its powerful performance, luxury features, and comfort, and many also like its towing ability and enjoyable driving experience. The overview also points to its interior comfort, handsome styling, and broad range of cabin and powertrain choices, so you can shop it as either a work truck or a more upscale cruiser.

With 26.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still some worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2015 RAM 1500 reliable?

The 2015 RAM 1500 is presented as a truck that has aged well, with a smooth diesel option and a capable V6 that are both described favourably in expert commentary.

Owners often describe the truck as powerful, comfortable, and enjoyable to drive, and some specifically value its towing efficiency and long-term usefulness. The expert notes also say the V6 and eight-speed automatic are “entirely unnoticeable,” which is a good sign for everyday dependability.

The diesel can be appealing if you plan to keep the truck a long time, but its higher purchase price means the ownership equation depends on how much you drive. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that owner-reported engine issues and rust deserve a careful inspection before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 RAM 1500?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from work-focused trims to luxury-oriented versions, and the biggest feature gaps are at the lower end, where less expensive trims can have much more basic equipment than the higher trims with larger wheels and richer content.
• Powertrain: You can shop this truck with a 3.6-litre V6, a 5.7-litre Hemi V8, or a 3.0-litre EcoDiesel. The V6 and eight-speed automatic are described as capable and smooth, while the EcoDiesel is the efficiency play if you can justify its higher price.
• Safety package: The truck includes a standard suite of passive safety features, and trailer sway control is managed by standard electronic stability control. Blind-spot monitoring is optional, and front and rear parking sensors are optional on most trims but standard on Laramie editions.
• Infotainment: An optional 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen is available on most trims and standard above the Outdoorsman. It includes Bluetooth and SiriusXM satellite radio, while less expensive trims can have more basic systems.
• Fuel efficiency: The 3.6-litre V6 is rated at 13.9 L/100 km city and 9.5 highway in rear-wheel drive, or 14.6/10.1 in four-wheel drive. The 5.7-litre V8 uses 15.7/10.9 in rear-wheel drive or 16.2/11.5 in four-wheel drive, while the 3.0-litre EcoDiesel returns 11.5/8.4 in rear-wheel drive or 12.1/8.8 in four-wheel drive.

Which 2015 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2015 RAM 1500 is offered in 10 trim levels: Tradesman, ST, SXT, SLT, Big Horn, Outdoorsman, Sport, R/T, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Laramie Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the work-site fleet choice, so it makes sense if you want the most basic path into the truck and do not need the richer comfort or convenience features found higher up the range.
• ST: This sits just above the Tradesman and is still aimed at shoppers who want a straightforward truck without paying for the more consumer-focused upgrades.
• SXT: This is another lower-cost step in the lineup, and it is best for buyers who want a simple Ram 1500 with a little more trim separation than the most basic versions.
• SLT: This is a popular pick and a sensible middle-ground choice if you want a more broadly appealing truck without jumping into the pricier content of the volume and luxury trims.
• Big Horn: This is the consumer volume model and adds a few more available content upgrades over the SLT, making it the best-value trim for many shoppers.
• Outdoorsman: This trim sits in the more specialised part of the range and is a good fit if you want a truck with a more distinctive personality than the mainstream trims.
• Sport: This trim is aimed at niche truck buyers and is also where the new-for-2015 R/T option sits, so it suits you if you want a more style-forward or performance-flavoured setup.
• R/T: This option is part of the Sport trim and brings 22-inch alloy wheels, so it is the one to consider if you want the most aggressive appearance in the lineup.
• Laramie: This is where the truck starts to lean into luxury, and it is also the trim where front and rear parking sensors become standard.
• Laramie Longhorn: This is one of the luxury trims for buyers who want their truck to clean up well on weekends and feel more upscale inside.
• Laramie Limited: This is the newest luxury trim in the range and the most premium choice if you want the most attention-getting version of the 2015 Ram 1500.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 RAM 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should have enough choice to compare listings without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 440 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.21% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $16,026 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $16,974 CAD sits slightly below last year's $18,904 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the truck is more attractive to buyers now than it was a year ago, which can make it easier for you to find value if you are shopping used. For a future seller, it also means you should expect a more competitive resale environment than before, especially if your truck is not especially well equipped or well maintained. If you own a cleaner, better-trimmed example, it should still stand out, but the broader market is clearly leaning in the buyer’s favour.

Is the 2015 RAM 1500 safe?

The 2015 RAM 1500 earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and five-star ratings in side impacts.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ram’s safety package includes a standard suite of passive safety features such as airbags, pretensioning seatbelts, antilock brakes, and brake assist. Trailer sway control is also standard through electronic stability control, and blind-spot monitoring is available as an option. Front and rear parking sensors are optional on most trims and standard on Laramie editions.

One caveat is that the truck’s most useful safety advantage is also its size, which helps on the road but can make parking and manoeuvring more demanding.

Should I buy a 2015 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.21% compared with last year.
• The 2015 stands out for its handsome looks, strong chassis, and broad range of powertrain and cabin choices.

The bottom line: The 2015 is a smart pick if you want the Ram 1500’s comfort-first character and a wide spread of trims and engines. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can still find value in this year, but you should focus on well-kept examples with the equipment you actually want rather than chasing the cheapest truck on the lot.
