CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Kia Soul
Summary
With 114 currently listed for sale and an average price of $8,574 CAD, 24.6% of 2015 Kia Soul listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Kia Soul 4.36 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Kia Soul stands out because it blends quirky styling with everyday usefulness. Kia’s buying guide describes the Soul as a subcompact hatchback with a boxy, distinctive shape, and it also notes that the model helped shift Kia’s image towards a more appealing, value-conscious brand. For shoppers, that means the 2015 Soul is not just about looking different; it is also about offering a practical small-car package with a lot of room inside and a strong sense of personality.
What makes this generation especially appealing is how much it improved the original formula without losing the Soul’s character. The second-generation model kept the same basic footprint but gained smoother sides, a higher front grille, and more balanced proportions that made it look more like a scaled-down SUV. It also brought a slightly longer, wider, and stiffer chassis, a quieter cabin, and suspension changes aimed at better handling and a smoother ride. Cargo access improved too, with the tailgate opening six centimetres higher and the cargo area offering 532 litres of space. In Canada, the trim walk-up was generous for the class, with standard equipment such as Bluetooth on the base LX and features like heated front seats, roof rails, keyless entry, cruise control, leather upholstery, and a rear-view camera appearing as you moved up the range.
The 2015 model year also benefits from the second-generation Soul EV, which was introduced in 2015 as an electric version with 149 kilometres of estimated range from its 27-kWh battery. That gives this year extra appeal for buyers interested in an electric small car with unusual styling and a practical cabin. The main trade-off is performance: the buying guide says the Soul was merely okay to drive, and the powertrain was gutless, so buyers prioritising strong acceleration may want to look elsewhere. Still, for space, value, and individuality, the 2015 Kia Soul has a clear identity that many compact crossovers and hatchbacks do not match.

Super smooth ride, responsive steering, seats great for back problems, large interior and cool edgy look! I purchased the 2015 Kia Soul + and so far the only down sides are rear passenger side blind spot, and not quick to accelerate. Best purchase Ive ever made! Truly an amazing car!

Everything is pretty solid on this car. SiriusXM, Bluetooth. For what I paid, yes, I believe it is a good value.

| Year-Round High | $9,766 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $9,742 CAD |

There are 113 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of choice when comparing condition, mileage, and equipment.
Is the 2015 Kia Soul a good car?
Generally — the 4.36/5 user rating points to a model that owners tend to like. The 2015 Kia Soul’s appeal comes through in the recurring praise for its spacious interior, comfort, and value for money, along with comments about good fuel economy and a fun driving experience. That lines up well with its role as a practical small car with a lot of room inside and a strong sense of personality. With 23.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop carefully.
Is the 2015 Kia Soul reliable?
Owners rate it 4.36/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with praise centred on comfort, value, and everyday usability. That said, some drivers mention missing features and weaker power in lower engine options, so your long-term risk is less about major character flaws and more about making sure the specific used example you choose has been maintained well.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Kia Soul?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to compare listings carefully rather than rush.
- Deal availability: 23.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 113 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.99% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $8,566 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Kia Soul's resale value?
The current average of $8,574 CAD sits slightly below last year's $9,742 CAD.
That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations if they want to move the car quickly. The current range still shows healthy demand for well-priced examples, especially when the vehicle presents cleanly and is equipped in a way shoppers want. Because the model has a strong owner satisfaction score, it should continue to attract interest from used buyers over time.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.36/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2015 Kia Soul or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 23.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.99% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.36/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, owner satisfaction, and current market softness, the 2015 is the year to focus on. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the 2015’s stronger market position and owner feedback.
