Is the 2015 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Honda Civic earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, fuel efficiency, and user-friendly design, and they also highlight the smooth ride and spacious interior. That lines up well with its role as an economical daily driver that is easy to live with and broadly satisfying for commuters and first-time car buyers. With 25.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Owner feedback repeatedly points to reliability, and the model is also described as dependable and a car you can count on for everyday use.

The expert assessment reinforces that impression by framing the Civic as a model that meets small-car buyer expectations for reliability and value. It also benefits from a cost-conscious ownership profile, including strong value retention and low running costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is not mechanical drama so much as living with a car that may feel short on power or newer convenience features.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Honda Civic?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base DX and LX trims are the most affordable, while the EX adds a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, HondaLink connectivity and services, heated front seats, automatic climate control, LaneWatch, keyless entry with push-button start, a power sunroof, automatic headlights, and alloy wheels. The cabin is described as aging, but still unusual enough to feel fresh.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a 1.8-litre 4-cylinder engine with 143 horsepower and front-wheel drive. A five-speed manual is standard on DX, LX, and EX grades, while the CVT is optional on the latter two and standard on Touring. The car is not especially fast, but it is refined and easy to drive.
• Safety package: The Civic has a 5-star overall crash-test safety rating from the NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS. A backup camera is standard on all trims but the base DX, and LaneWatch is standard on all but the DX and LX trims.
• Infotainment: Every 2015 Civic includes Bluetooth calling and text messaging. Above the LX trim, you get the touchscreen infotainment system with HondaLink smartphone connectivity and services, plus a 7-inch display that supports taps, swipes, and pinches.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada states combined fuel consumption of 7.2 litres per 100 kilometres, and the test vehicle averaged 7.4 L/100 km.

Which 2015 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2015 Honda Civic is offered in 5 trim levels: DX, LX, EX, Touring, and Civic Si.

Here's the short version:

• DX: This is the least expensive way into the Civic, but it is also the most stripped-down. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the backup camera and LaneWatch features found higher up.
• LX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the touchscreen infotainment system with HondaLink connectivity and services while staying relatively affordable. It is the sweet spot if you want the Civic’s core strengths without paying for extras you may not need.
• EX: This trim adds a more complete comfort and convenience package, including heated front seats, automatic climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, a power sunroof, and alloy wheels. It suits you if you want a more polished daily driver.
• Touring: This is the trim to choose if you want the CVT as standard and a more fully equipped Civic experience. It is the most upscale mainstream version in the lineup.
• Civic Si: This is the performance-tuned model for drivers who want the most fun-to-drive version of the Civic. It is the right pick if driving enjoyment matters more than pure practicality.

The safety package is strongest above the DX and LX trims because LaneWatch is standard on all but those two trims, and the backup camera is standard on all trims but the base DX.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Honda Civic?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 25.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 347 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.61% compared with last year.
• If you find a listing below $11,932 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $12,255 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,582 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Civic is still accessible on the used market, which can help keep demand steady among value-focused buyers. For a future seller, that means you may not see dramatic appreciation, but the model’s reputation for reliability and low ownership costs should help support interest. Because it remains a practical commuter car with broad appeal, resale should stay relatively resilient compared with less trusted alternatives.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Honda Civic safe?

The 2015 Honda Civic earns a 5-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Civic comes with a backup camera standard on all trims but the base DX, and LaneWatch is standard on all but the DX and LX trims. HondaLink Assist is also part of the package when paired with a compatible device. A caveat to keep in mind is that LaneWatch is not as intuitive as a traditional blind-spot monitoring system and can add distraction.

Should I buy a 2015 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 25.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It delivers strong reliability, safety, fuel efficiency, quality, and value in a practical compact package.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $11,236 CAD, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $12,255 CAD average.
• It feels more refined and capable than its price point suggests.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $14,006 CAD, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $12,255 CAD average.
• It brings a bold redesign with better refinement and build quality.

The bottom line: The 2015 is the best all-around choice if you want a well-rounded Civic with strong value and broad appeal. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2014 is the cheaper route; if you want a newer-feeling Civic and can spend more, the 2016 is the upgrade path.

How does the 2015 Honda Civic compare to the 2015 Toyota Corolla?

Our experts score the 2015 Honda Civic 8.7/10 and the 2015 Toyota Corolla 6.2/10. The Civic comes across as the more complete used-car choice because it combines stronger overall value, better equipment, and a more satisfying ownership experience. The Corolla is cheaper to start, but the Civic offers more power, more listings, and a stronger expert verdict. If you want the better-rounded compact car, the Civic is the one to target.
