Why it stands out
The 2014 Lexus RX stands out as a luxury SUV that puts comfort, refinement, and reliability ahead of flashier ambitions. By this generation, the RX had adopted a sharper, sleeker design, and the cabin moved to a more upright, traditional layout with improved materials, more soft-touch surfaces, and stronger plastics. Passenger space was increased for both the front and rear seats, and Lexus also made wireless charging available. For buyers who value an easygoing, upscale daily driver, that combination of comfort and polish is a major part of the RX’s appeal.
The 2014 model also benefited from several useful updates. A larger infotainment display and a rearview camera were standard that year, and a household power outlet was available. The RX’s safety equipment was already strong, with no fewer than 10 airbags, including a full-length side curtain airbag, while adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and blind spot monitoring were available. Fuel consumption was respectable for the class, with the RX 350 estimated at 11.1 to 11.7 L/100 km combined depending on model year and equipment, and the RX 400h hybrid estimated between 7.9 and 8.2 L/100 km combined.
There are trade-offs, though. The sharply raked rear liftgate cut into cargo space and made bulky items harder to load, and the available sport-tuned suspension was more about sharper responses than outright athleticism. Even so, the 2014 Lexus RX remains appealing because it delivers the kind of quiet, dependable luxury many used-SUV shoppers want, backed by strong resale values and a reputation for trouble-free ownership.

Driving the RX 350 was comfortable and ride smoothly. Soo far no complaint. I felt comfortable and can definitely recommend this car to anyone. Other model I would compare to it is a Benz which I own before I purchased this car.

Loved the car drove nice, ran well. Main issue we could not get together on a deal. Also car had been damaged apparently on the lot on passenger front fender and quarter panel. Not a very good job on the repairs. Also was concerned that a couple of the stories didnt add up from the car lot. We were first told the car was traded for a new Hynduai but CarMax report said it was purchased from the auto auction. There was also about two years of missing time on the CarMax report . Where was the car during this time? Too many things just didnt add up for the poor deal they were offering. Decided to walk and continue our search.

| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $17,905 CAD |

| Year-Round High | $20,716 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $20,530 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −12.79% |
Prices have softened 12.79% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 69 listings available, which suggests a reasonable amount of inventory for shoppers comparing options.
Is the 2014 Lexus RX a good car?
Yes — the 2014 Lexus RX earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction.
Owners consistently praise its comfort, reliability, and luxurious features, and many also highlight the smooth ride and good value for a luxury SUV. That fits the RX’s role as a comfortable, refined choice for you if you want a quiet daily driver rather than something focused on performance. The market also shows 30.4% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Lexus RX reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to reliability, comfort, and a trouble-free ownership experience as recurring strengths. Reviewers also describe it as dependable and well suited to long-term use, which aligns with the RX’s reputation for durability. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the vehicle’s core reliability and more about making sure the specific example has a clear maintenance history and no hidden issues.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Lexus RX?
This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 69 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.79% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $17,905 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Lexus RX's resale value?
The current average of $17,905 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,530 CAD.
That price movement suggests the RX has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer market than they did a year ago. If you buy at today's average, your resale upside may be more limited in the short term unless the vehicle is especially well kept. Even so, the RX’s reputation for comfort and dependability should help support steady demand over time.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2014 Lexus RX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.79% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want a comfortable, well-regarded luxury SUV and you value a lower entry price, the 2014 RX is a sensible place to start. If you’re more price-sensitive, it can also make sense to compare nearby model years and focus on the best-maintained example rather than the newest one you can afford.
