99 Ford Explorer v6 tilts to the left

Asked by Toni Jul 17, 2019 at 11:42 AM about the 1999 Ford Explorer 4 Dr XLT 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck is leaning on it’s left side and not
sure where to begin to find out what the
problem is. Maybe a broken leaf spring
shackle I truly don’t know. Any suggestions

HOw far is it leaning? Is the suspension damaged? I have a 99 explorer. Have seen others with the same problem. Owners call it the Explorer lean. The battery is on the drivers side, so is the fuel tank, and adding my big butt behind the steering wheel for twenty years didn't help out things either. Was any front suspension work performed. With torsion bar suspension ride height can be adjusted via an adjustment on each rod, but not too much. Visually inspect the front suspension and shocks for obvious problems. Do the same on the rear paying particular attention to the leaf springs.
