the transmission in my 99 ford explorer went out...its a v8. will the transmission
out of a 99 ford explorer v6 go into the v8? they are both automatics

Nope the v8 and v6 trannies aren't interchangeable. the v8 is a 4r70w and the v6 is the 5r55e.

I believe the V8 tranny is a 4 speed and the v6 a five speed. Besides, the electronics are different.
