Battery keeps dying on car

Asked by GuruP3SG5 Jan 29, 2020 at 06:46 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt LTZ Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Okay so I recently have gotten my Rack N Pinion replaced on my Chevy Cobalt 2006. It was severely damaged I couldn't drive it, the service air bag light came on and none of  my buttons on my steering wheel work even after getting it fixed. My car was sitting for about 4 months and eventually the battery died. Okay, I had gotten the battery jump but the battery kept dying so eventually I got a new one. When I got the new one it lasted a week and then died. I notice when I replaced my battery my clock wouldn't turn off it would be on all night. I recently got my alternator checked and they said it was above what it should be at about a 15 point something. I don't understand the problem. Help. Please?

The clock being on all the time is an indication there is a draw on your battery. Look up parasitic draw on youtube to find how to test each circuit of the electrical system of your car to find where there problems are. Also the clock spring under the steering wheel airbag might also be compromised. One reason your air bag light is on and the steering wheel controls don't work.
