2024 Lexus TX Reviews Summary

Lexus has sold three-row SUVs in the past. But they were either originally engineered for serious off-roading (GX), too expensive (LX), or too cramped for third-row passengers (RX L). The 2024 Lexus TX is none of these things, making it perfect for the typical three-row luxury SUV buyer who spends almost all their time on paved roads. Overall, based on our week testing a TX 350, this new Lexus SUV gets most things right.

2025 Lincoln Aviator Reviews Summary

In the midsize three-row luxury SUV segment, the 2025 Aviator embraces the mid-century modern cues of the past while delivering a calm, unhurried sanctuary for the present. Yet starting in 2025, this Lincoln simultaneously contains some of the most advanced technology in its segment. Fresh styling and new thematic packages are also available. However, the previously offered plug-in hybrid model has not been reintroduced to the lineup, leaving a twin-turbocharged V6 as the sole engine option.

Verdict: Distinctive without resorting to polarization, the 2025 Lincoln Aviator is a compelling choice for people seeking a powerful, quiet, and comfortable luxury SUV. It’s been around since 2019, yet you can’t consider this Lincoln to be a relic thanks to its undeniable technological sophistication.

Look and feel

2024 Lexus TX

7/10

2025 Lincoln Aviator

8/10

The 2024 Lexus TX, based on the Toyota Grand Highlander, presented itself as a luxury SUV with a distinct upscale appearance. Unlike the Grand Highlander, which resembled a larger RAV4, the TX boasted a more refined look, especially with its 22-inch silver-finished wheels included in the TX 350 Executive packages. The styling of the TX was more subdued compared to other Lexus models, offering a conservative design that might appeal to those previously put off by the brand's bolder aesthetics. The TX was available in three model series: TX 350, TX 500h F Sport Performance, and TX 550h+ plug-in hybrid, with prices ranging from $72,036 to $87,486, although the TX 550h+ was not yet available for sale.

In contrast, the 2025 Lincoln Aviator, built on a rear-wheel-drive platform shared with the Ford Explorer, showcased classic design proportions with a blunt nose, short front overhang, and a tapered roofline. While the Aviator's design was fundamentally appealing, resembling a sports wagon more than an SUV, the 2025 styling updates made it appear more generic, especially with the optional Jet Appearance Package. Inside, the Aviator offered a plush interior with a classic architectural sensibility, avoiding the screen-heavy approach of other Lincoln models. However, the remote keyless entry fob was a letdown, made of cheap plastic and oversized, though the Aviator's Phone as a Key technology and touchpad entry system offered modern conveniences. In Canada, the Aviator was available in Premiere and Reserve trims, with prices from $79,595 to $81,695, and our test vehicle in Reserve trim featured several option packages, bringing its MSRP to $96,295.

Performance

2024 Lexus TX

7/10

2025 Lincoln Aviator

6/10

The 2024 Lexus TX 350 was equipped with a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine, producing 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. Lexus claimed it could accelerate to 100 km/h in about eight seconds, though it felt quicker due to its torque delivery. The official fuel economy rating was 10.3 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, but during testing, it averaged 13.8 L/100 km. The TX 350's suspension provided a balanced ride, firm enough to convey road surface details while ensuring comfort. The steering was accurate, and the interior remained quiet on highways. However, the brake pedal felt too soft, though it was easy to modulate for smooth stops.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator featured a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine, delivering 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque through a 10-speed automatic transmission. It offered multiple driving modes, including Excite and Normal, with an optional adaptive air suspension. The Aviator excelled in acceleration, with the transmission swiftly downshifting for passing maneuvers. The official fuel economy rating was 11.9 litres per 100 kilometres, but testing revealed a higher 13.3 L/100 km. The Aviator's ride quality was generally pleasant, though the 22-inch wheels and thin tires struggled with rough surfaces, generating road noise. The adaptive air suspension managed body motions well, ensuring a composed ride, though the Aviator's driving character was more about comfort than athleticism.

Form and function

2024 Lexus TX

2025 Lincoln Aviator

8/10

The 2024 Lexus TX addressed previous shortcomings in Lexus's three-row SUVs. It offered a comfortable interior with premium materials, including semi-aniline leather and artificial suede upholstery. Standard features included heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, and a heated steering wheel. The second-row bench seat was standard, with optional captain's chairs available. The third-row seat was habitable for adults, with adequate leg support and large side windows. Cargo space measured 572 litres behind the third row, expanding to 1,625 litres with the third row folded, and 2,746 litres with the second row down, providing ample storage for road trips.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator's Perfect Position front seats offered exceptional comfort with 30-way adjustments, heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The second-row captain's chairs were roomy and supportive, with available heating and ventilation. However, the third-row seat was less accommodating for adults, with limited legroom and flat cushions. Storage space was excellent, with a well-organized centre console and deep door pockets. The Aviator provided 466 litres of cargo space behind the third row, expanding to 1,131 litres with the third row down, and a maximum of 2,149 litres, offering practical storage for family trips.

Technology

The 2024 Lexus TX featured a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 14-inch touchscreen display with the Lexus Interface infotainment system. The system included wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with a Drive Connect subscription offering cloud-based navigation and a digital assistant. However, the head-up display's unmarked steering wheel controls were frustrating, especially for those wearing polarized sunglasses. The optional 21-speaker Mark Levinson audio system provided impressive sound quality.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator boasted a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system powered by Lincoln Digital Experience. It supported Google Built-in, Alexa Built-in, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, the Google Assistant struggled with voice prompts in the test vehicle. The 28-speaker Revel Ultima 3D sound system delivered excellent audio quality. The Aviator's head-up display provided comprehensive data, enhancing the driving experience.

Safety

The 2024 Lexus TX came equipped with the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, featuring adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and more. Proactive Drive Assist offered additional braking and steering assistance, though it was not always transparent in operation. The TX also included blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and optional parking sensors with automatic braking.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator featured the Lincoln Co-Pilot360 Drive 2.0 suite, including active blind-spot monitoring, intersection assist, evasive steering assist, and reverse braking assist. BlueCruise, a hands-free driving assistance system, was standard, offering a four-year subscription. The Aviator earned five-star ratings from the NHTSA and Good ratings from the IIHS, indicating strong safety performance.
