2024 Honda Passport Reviews Summary

While many automakers resort to daring designs or flashy tech in their efforts to stand out amid a crowded midsize SUV market, Honda takes a different approach. The 2024 Honda Passport has been refreshed for this year, but few would notice. There are no big-screen TVs in this SUV, no futuristic materials or shocking styling choices. Instead, the Passport goes simple: a proven engine, easy-to-use technology, and enough (but not too much) capability to make it appealing in all weather.

The Honda Passport’s V6 engine makes impressive power, and the TrailSport trim level tested in this review adds extra capability courtesy of some all-terrain tires and an off-road-tuned suspension. Although its 2024 refresh doesn’t make the Honda Passport a segment leader in any specific category, it will still find plenty of buyers who want a practical, spacious, safe, and reliable crossover SUV.

2025 INFINITI QX80 Reviews Summary

The 2025 Infiniti QX80 is the Nissan luxury brand’s de facto flagship. It’s a full-size SUV that competes with the BMW X7, Cadillac Escalade, Land Rover Range Rover, Lexus LX, Lincoln Navigator, and Mercedes-Benz GLS. The QX80 benefits from a redesign for 2025 with new styling, a new powertrain, and updated tech features.

Verdict: The QX80 emphasizes interior space and tech gadgets over driving dynamics.

2024 Honda Passport

6/10

2025 INFINITI QX80

8/10

The 2024 Honda Passport retained much of its previous design, despite Honda's recent updates across its lineup. While it received some tweaks in 2022, such as a more upright grille and squared-off corners, it largely maintained the look of Honda’s older designs. The Passport offered three trims in Canada: Sport, TrailSport, and Black Edition, all equipped with a power moonroof, identical touchscreens, and AWD. The TrailSport trim, tested for its rugged appeal, featured all-terrain tires and standard roof rails and LED fog lights in Canada. However, its rugged appearance was more aesthetic than functional, with plastic skid plates and no recovery points. Inside, the Passport had a simple, utilitarian design with an 8-inch touchscreen and black leather upholstery with orange stitching.

The 2025 INFINITI QX80 underwent its first redesign since 2017, growing slightly in size while retaining its body-on-frame architecture. The new frame improved torsional and lateral stiffness significantly. The QX80's styling became more expressive, with a large grille and stacked-headlight setup creating a distinctive look. The rear end retained its shape but featured full-width LED taillights. Offered in Luxe, Sensory, and Autobiography trims, the QX80 included standard 22-inch wheels and a panoramic moonroof. Inside, it boasted a high-tech makeover with a large horizontal display and 64-colour ambient lighting, though shiny black plastic trim detracted from the premium feel. Seating options varied by trim, with semi-aniline leather available in higher trims.

Performance

2024 Honda Passport

7/10

2025 INFINITI QX80

6/10

The 2024 Honda Passport was powered by a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 engine, producing 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. This engine, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, provided adequate acceleration and smooth gear shifts. The Passport's fuel economy was rated at 12.5 L/100 km in the city and 9.8 on the highway. The TrailSport trim featured wider tracks, 18-inch wheels with A/T tires, and off-road-tuned suspension. All Passports included Honda’s iVTM4 AWD system and a traction-management system with multiple settings. The Passport's towing capacity was 2,268 kg, surpassing some competitors but falling short of others like the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The 2025 INFINITI QX80 featured a new twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 engine, delivering 450 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, replacing the previous V8. A nine-speed automatic transmission and standard 4WD in Canada enhanced its performance. The QX80 felt more energetic than its predecessor, though active sound enhancement added artificial noise. Standard air suspension and adaptive damping improved ride quality, with adjustable ride height for off-road and aerodynamic benefits. Despite its size, the QX80's handling was average for a large SUV. Its towing capacity reached 3,855 kg, competitive among full-size luxury SUVs.

2025 INFINITI QX80

9/10

The 2024 Honda Passport excelled in cargo space, offering 1,430 litres behind the rear seats and expanding to 2,854 litres with seats folded. It comfortably seated five adults, with ample storage and cupholders. The front featured a redesigned centre console for increased storage, though it reduced the airy feel.

The 2025 INFINITI QX80 increased cargo space by up to 28%, with 623 litres behind all rows and 2,860 litres with seats folded. Power liftgate and power-folding seats facilitated reconfiguration. Passenger space was generous, with increased legroom and available heated, ventilated, and massaging seats. The QX80's towing capacity was 3,855 kg, surpassing most competitors.

Technology

2025 INFINITI QX80

9/10

The 2024 Honda Passport featured an 8-inch touchscreen, standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. The infotainment system had sharp resolution but was limited by its size. Navigation directions dominated the driver’s display, and the audio system was underwhelming compared to competitors.

The 2025 INFINITI QX80 boasted dual 14.3-inch screens and a 9-inch touchscreen for controls. Google built-in apps provided navigation and voice recognition, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The infotainment system felt familiar but required firm presses. Klipsch sound systems varied by trim, with advanced audio tech in higher trims. A 360-degree camera system and other advanced features enhanced safety and convenience.

The 2025 INFINITI QX80 earned a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS. Standard safety features included forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and a trailer blind-spot warning system. ProPilot Assist offered advanced driving assistance, with hands-free driving available on higher trims.
