2024 Genesis GV80 Reviews SummaryGenesis introduced the GV80 in 2021, and the crossover SUV is getting a minor refresh in 2025. Still, the 2024 GV80 remains a good choice unless you want to wait for the fancier styling, more high-tech interior, or new supercharged GV80 Coupe coming next year. Otherwise, today’s GV80 is pretty much the same as tomorrow’s GV80, and in some respects, it is the more elegant and traditional choice. Verdict: Based on our evaluation of the 2024 Genesis GV80, seat comfort is not what it should be. Also, to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, you need a USB cable. This Genesis is thirsty, too. But otherwise, we have few complaints about this stylish, safe, and mostly rewarding midsize luxury SUV.
2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Reviews SummaryNow in its third-generation, the Range Rover Sport is a smaller alternative to the traditional Range Rover and a more stylish alternative to the utilitarian Land Rover Defender and Discovery. Competitors include two-row midsize luxury SUVs like the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Porsche Cayenne. This generation was introduced for the 2023 model year, so the 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport sees minimal changes. Verdict: Blending traditional Land Rover looks and luxury with sportier on-road driving dynamics, the Range Rover Sport justifies its place in the automaker’s convoluted lineup but not in the larger luxury SUV market.

The 2024 Genesis GV80 presented itself as a luxury SUV with a choice between two engines: the 2.5T turbocharged four-cylinder and the 3.5T twin-turbocharged V6. In Canada, both engines were available with the Advanced trim, while the Prestige trim was exclusive to the V6. The pricing ranged from $76,000 to $92,500, inclusive of five years of scheduled maintenance and at-home concierge service. The GV80 3.5T test vehicle arrived in the U.S. Prestige Signature trim, which was not available in Canada. The Prestige trim offered six exterior colours and a variety of 22-inch wheel designs. Inside, the GV80 featured diamond-stitched Nappa leather, a suede headliner, and metallic-finish accents, complemented by ambient lighting, a 3D digital instrument cluster, and a wide touchscreen display. The GV80 was unmistakably a luxury vehicle, and the Prestige trim was recommended over the U.S. exclusive Prestige Signature.
The 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport was styled to emphasize its sporty nature within the Range Rover family. It stood tall with a shorter wheelbase and a chopped top, giving it an athletic appearance. The SV Edition Two, the highest-performance model, featured 23-inch carbon-fibre wheels and a carbon-fibre hood. Despite its subtle exterior, the interior boasted red leather upholstery, sport seats with light-up “SV” inserts, and illuminated steering-wheel paddle shifters. The minimalist aesthetic was maintained with a touchscreen, stubby shifter, and engine start button. The console, dash, and door panels were high, creating a cockpit-like feel, though the front seats felt cramped. Material quality was high, but the use of reflective piano black plastic was excessive.

The 2024 Genesis GV80 offered two engine options: the 2.5T turbocharged four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.5T twin-turbocharged V6 with 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. Both engines were paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. The GV80 provided 20.5 centimetres of ground clearance and could tow up to 2,720 kilograms. The 3.5T model included upgraded front brakes and an adaptive damping suspension, delivering a rewarding driving experience with swift acceleration and commendable grip from its P265/40R22 all-season tires. The steering wheel featured a two-spoke design, which was set to change in 2025.
The 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport offered multiple powertrain options, all with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard four-wheel drive. The Dynamic SE model featured a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine with 395 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. The plug-in hybrid powertrain, available in the Autobiography model, produced 543 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. The SV Edition Two used a twin-turbo BMW V8 with 626 hp, making it the most powerful Range Rover model. It could accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and had a top speed of 290 km/h. The Range Rover Sport excelled in cornering with its sport-tuned air suspension, four-wheel steering, and brake-based torque vectoring. It also featured the Terrain Response system for off-roading, with a maximum ground clearance of 28.4 cm.
In 2024, the Genesis GV80 3.5T Prestige offered a third-row seat, with real or Nappa leather depending on the trim. Standard features included heated and ventilated front seats, heated outboard rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, triple-zone climate control, and a power hands-free liftgate. However, the seats were uncomfortable for long trips, and second-row legroom was limited. The GV80 provided 988 litres of cargo space behind the second row, expanding to 2,378 litres with the seats folded.
The 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport, positioned between the Velar and full-size Range Rover, was a two-row five-seater. It offered similar headroom to other midsize luxury SUVs, with adequate rear-seat headroom despite the sloping roof. The Sport had 835 litres of cargo space behind the second row, expanding to 1,860 litres with the seats folded. It featured power operation and an “access height” setting for the air suspension, making loading easier. The Sport’s towing capacity was 3,500 kilograms for turbo-six and V8 models, with plug-in hybrids rated at 3,000 kilograms.
The 2024 Genesis GV80 featured a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment display, with a 12.3-inch digital instrument display in the Prestige trim. The infotainment system included a navigation system, SiriusXM satellite radio, and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The GV80 also had a digital key system and a Lexicon premium sound system, with a head-up display standard in Canada.
The 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport had a 13.7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.1-inch touchscreen for infotainment. It offered wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with Amazon Alexa integration. The Pivi Pro infotainment system was responsive, with natural-language voice recognition. The SV Edition Two featured “Body and Soul Seats” with embedded transducers, providing a unique audio experience.
The 2024 Genesis GV80 came with numerous advanced driving-assistance systems, including a Blind-Spot View Monitor, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Highway Driving Assist. The GV80 received a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS and a five-star overall rating from the NHTSA.
The 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport included standard driver-assist features such as automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring. It also had a 360-degree camera system and a digital rearview mirror. Safety ratings from the IIHS and NHTSA were not available at the time of writing.
