2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV Reviews Summary

The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV trades on the established Equinox nameplate to help ease the transition to battery-electric power, but the Equinox EV is just that: an EV, from the ground up. Its dedicated architecture is wholly independent of the internal-combustion-engined (ICE) Equinox compact SUV. In Canada, it’s available in 2LT, 2RS, 3LT, and 3RS trims. Accounting for current availability puts base MSRP at $48,199 before fees for the 2LT, but that will fall when the 1LT trim level becomes available in 2025.

Verdict: The Equinox EV does exactly what its name promises, offering the benefits of electric power in a comfortable package, and at a price point that’s hard to beat.

2025 Lincoln Aviator Reviews Summary

In the midsize three-row luxury SUV segment, the 2025 Aviator embraces the mid-century modern cues of the past while delivering a calm, unhurried sanctuary for the present. Yet starting in 2025, this Lincoln simultaneously contains some of the most advanced technology in its segment. Fresh styling and new thematic packages are also available. However, the previously offered plug-in hybrid model has not been reintroduced to the lineup, leaving a twin-turbocharged V6 as the sole engine option.

Verdict: Distinctive without resorting to polarization, the 2025 Lincoln Aviator is a compelling choice for people seeking a powerful, quiet, and comfortable luxury SUV. It’s been around since 2019, yet you can’t consider this Lincoln to be a relic thanks to its undeniable technological sophistication.

Look and feel

2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV

8/10

2025 Lincoln Aviator

8/10

The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV initially appeared similar to its internal combustion engine counterpart, sharing features like rounded wheel wells and a flat beltline. However, upon closer inspection, the EV version showcased more decisive lines, a thicker body-coloured C-pillar, and a sleeker grille. The front fascia was predominantly body-coloured, and the rear design was more assertive, featuring hexagonal shapes and a light bar echoing the front. Standard 19-inch aluminum wheels adorned the 2LT trim, while other trims boasted 21-inch versions. The Equinox EV offered vibrant colour options like "Red Hot" and "Riptide Blue Metallic," which added a youthful flair. Two-tone paint jobs were available, with options for a white or black roof depending on the trim. Interior colour choices expanded with higher trims, offering combinations like black with blue accents or Sky Cool Grey, and sportier options like Adrenaline Red.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator, built on a rear-wheel-drive platform shared with the Ford Explorer, boasted classic design proportions with a blunt nose, short front overhang, and a tapered roofline. While the design was fundamentally appealing, resembling a sports wagon more than an SUV, the 2025 styling updates were perceived as less elegant. The interior exuded a classic architectural sensibility, with a focus on traditional luxury rather than overwhelming technology. The Aviator's remote keyless entry fob was criticized for its cheap feel, but the SUV's Phone as a Key technology offered a modern alternative. In Canada, the Aviator was available in Premiere and Reserve trims, with prices ranging from $79,595 to $81,695. Our test vehicle, in Reserve trim, featured options like Whisper Blue paint and a centre console between second-row captain’s chairs, bringing the MSRP to $96,295.

The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV featured a hands-free start, which some found unsettling but not uncommon in modern EVs. It offered one-pedal driving across all trims, managed through a regenerative braking setting or drive modes like Tour, Sport, Snow/Ice, and My Mode. The single-motor, front-wheel-drive variant delivered 213 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque, while the all-wheel-drive version boasted 288 horsepower and 333 lb-ft of torque. The Equinox EV could tow up to 680 kilograms. Its range was impressive, with Natural Resources Canada estimating 513 kilometres for FWD models and 494 km for AWD. The vehicle supported DC fast charging at up to 150 kW, regaining about 125 kilometres of range in 10 minutes.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator was powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine, producing 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It offered driving modes like Excite, Conserve, Normal, Slippery, and Deep Conditions. The optional adaptive air suspension firmed up in Excite mode, though the Aviator was more about comfort than excitement. The V6 provided ample power for acceleration and passing, but fuel economy was a concern, with an observed 13.3 L/100 km. The Aviator offered clear sightlines and a 360-degree camera view for parking. The ride quality was generally pleasant, though larger bumps and road noise from the 22-inch wheels were noticeable. The adaptive Air Glide suspension ensured a composed and calming ride, aligning with Lincoln's luxury mission.

The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV's base model, 1LT, lacked heated front seats, steering wheel, and mirrors in the U.S., with Canadian availability uncertain. The 2LT trim added these features, along with an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and optional panoramic moonroof. The 3LT trim included power adjustments for the passenger seat, front-seat ventilation, and heated rear seats. The Equinox EV offered 994 mm of front headroom and 978 mm in the second row, with 1,058 mm of front legroom. Cargo space was 748 litres with all seats in place, expanding to 1,620 litres with the second row folded.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator's Perfect Position front seats offered 30 adjustments, heating, ventilation, and massage, ensuring comfort. The second-row captain’s chairs were roomy and supportive, with available heating and ventilation. The third-row seat was less accommodating for adults, with limited legroom. Storage space was excellent, with a smartphone charging pad, cupholders, and a sizeable bin in the centre console. The Aviator provided 466 litres of cargo space with the third row in use, expanding to 1,131 litres with it folded, and a maximum of 2,149 litres.

The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV featured a driver-oriented cockpit with a 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 11-inch driver-information screen. Google Built-In was standard, offering Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play Store. An eight-year OnStar Remote Access Plan subscription was included, essential for the MyChevrolet app, which provided navigation and route planning.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator had a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system powered by Lincoln Digital Experience. It supported Google Built-in, Alexa Built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. However, the Google Assistant struggled with voice prompts in our test vehicle. The 28-speaker Revel Ultima 3D sound system delivered excellent audio quality. The Aviator's head-up display provided a widescreen presentation of data, including lane departure warnings.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator featured Lincoln Co-Pilot360 Drive 2.0, with active blind-spot monitoring, intersection assist, and reverse braking assist. BlueCruise, a hands-free driving assistance system, was standard, with a four-year subscription. The Aviator earned five-star ratings from the NHTSA and Good ratings from the IIHS, indicating strong safety performance.
