Despite its stylish interior, the cabin was filled with hard plastic, which detracted from its overall value.

In contrast, the 2023 Volvo XC90 showcased how far Volvo had come from its days of boxy, utilitarian designs. The XC90 exuded a purposeful yet understated elegance, with a stout front end and a bold grille that avoided being overly flashy. The signature "Thor’s Hammer" headlights added a modern touch, while the overall dimensions maintained a rectilinear shape without resembling the toasters of Volvo's past. Our test vehicle, in Ultimate trim, featured 21-inch wheels and a sophisticated Platinum Grey paint with brown undertones. Inside, the XC90's cabin was a blend of elegance and luxury, with two-tone leather, metal speaker covers, and Nappa leather upholstery. The minimalist design was complemented by wood deco inlays, creating a serene and stylish environment.

The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer was powered by a turbocharged 1.3-litre three-cylinder engine, producing 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 rpm. This engine, paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) in front-wheel drive (FWD) models, offered a sprightly driving experience. Opting for all-wheel drive (AWD) added a nine-speed automatic transmission and a more sophisticated rear suspension, enhancing ride and handling. The XC90's driving experience was enjoyable, with excellent brakes and minimal road noise. While it lacked extensive off-road features, the XC90's simplicity in driving dynamics appealed to those seeking a straightforward driving experience.

It could accommodate four passengers comfortably, with a 10-way power-adjustable driver seat in the RS trim. The rear seat, though flat and bench-like, provided ample legroom. The Trailblazer's cargo space was notable, with 716 litres available in the trunk and 1,540 litres with the rear seats folded. The front passenger seat also folded flat, allowing the Trailblazer to carry items up to 2.5 metres long.
