1987 Wrangler, NP231, Peugeot 5spd, 258ci, originally had Carter 2bbl. Over 200K miles. Installed Mopar Performance Fuel Injection late 90's. Best money I have spent so far. Increased mileage, drivability, easier starting and great performance off camber as well as inclines. Now 5" spring lift,1" body lift, 35" BFG MT's,SYE,4.56 gears,ARB locker up front and Detroit Locker in the rear. Alloy 30 spline axle shafts front and rear. Used now for trail riding mostly in East Tennessee.Mar 17, 2014

Extremely fun vehicle. I travel extremely close to work (less than 5 minutes) and have used it to commute. The vehicle is in great condition, no mechanical problems. Has a bikini top, tow package, folding rear seat. 4x4, 4 cylinder. Sep 14, 2012

I LOVE THIS JEEP! My Dad has it now and is restoring it for me. I bought this as a present for myself after my graduation of JUMP SCHOOL in 1993. It starts and drives every time I go home for a visit and I LOVE IT!Dec 28, 2011

its a YJ, what more can you say other than "follow me... if you can". this jeep is an absolute blast to drive. if you dont mind a top speed of about 75 mph with a good tailwind, and love having a top down and never being in a position where you dont think you can "make it", this is absolutely the vehicle for you... as long as you get it muddy.
it is equipped with a dana 30 front axle, dana turdy-5 rear (soon to be swapped with a 8.8), fully skidded, sliders, 4.0, ax-15, NP231, 2.5" RC lift, 31" general grabber at2Nov 03, 2011

My jeep has the original 4.2L engine in it. It was a 5spd but we changed it to an auto for my kids to drive. Overall my jeep is good on gas and looks good too. It still has the original decals on it from the factory. We put a 4" suspension lift in it and has 32" BFG mud terrian tires. Oct 28, 2011

Everything about this vehicle. Its built strong, easy to fix. I love the styling of the older jeeps, feel like they sit up higher then the newer ones do. It may be a lil of a rough ride but i love itOct 17, 2010

Well what to say about it, the goods plenty of power out of the six cylinder even turning 33 inch tires, handles good and turns on a dime, built like a tank i don't baby it at all and it just begs for more, and one of the most fun vehicles i've owned. Now the cons soft top makes noise when its up cause they stretch if u take them on and off all the time, bad gas mileage and lots of tire noise but thats my fault for doing the lift and big tires but hey bottom line is its a jeep not a lexus.Aug 20, 2010

My Daily Driver Built for Off-Road and Cruizin at 80... on the Highway. Drives like a dream, replaced anything that squeaked, rusted, or made my ride noisy. Nothing like a fresh rebuild to enjy as a 40yo man. Thanks for reading...Feb 05, 2010

The jeep wrangler is one of the amazing vehicle for an off-road experience!!! You can put so much money into then and yet still have enough specs to change on it for the life of the vehicle!!! It comes with the best and most lasting engine known to vehicle kind!! The Inline 6.. The only thing bad about it is the roll over risk on sharp corners!!!Jan 20, 2010

THis was my favorite vehicle I've owned. It was the perfect size, it looked cool, (especially after I lifted it,) and it had decent perfomance. The ONLY place it lacked was in reliability, and on road ride comfort, due to the leaf springs on all four corners. It had awesome off road performance though. In the end, a blown head gasket on the 4.0 I6 caused me to sell it.Oct 24, 2009

What can i say? It's a Jeep! it pretty much speaks for its self. it's definitely not the fastest vehicle, but it wasn't designed to be. its a very solid 4wd vehicle. it is very customizable. i have made my own center console out of an old army ammo can and i'm not through yet.Sep 16, 2009

I had the 2.4l engine, and it came with a lift, so the
performance was a little weak, and it only got 16mpg. Other
than that, I am absolutely in love with the car. No engine
problems, and very comfortable interior.Aug 17, 2009

Wow. Totally unexpected. That's what I thought when my cousin said that he was going to Switzerland with his family and asked whether or not I would look after his wife's 1987 Jeep. Of course, I said, who would pass up the opportunity for a free car?
The car arrived before I was finished with my 2-week stint at the University of Notre Dame's Intro to Engineering program, but needless to say when I got back I immediately went out for my first drive in the Jeep. Nothing can explain the first time you pilot a convertible, especially a Jeep. I've driven tons of convertibles at Enterprise since then, but I can't get past the feeling of driving a Wrangler - it's truly a unique experience.
Modern NVH engineering must go out the window to appreciate this car. There was only one top - the soft top. It rattled, flapped about, and took eons to put up and take down. But it was the CHARACTER that kept the smile on my face day in and day out, plus you get a badass feeling when you leave the windows off during a rain storm. You're only young once.
The Jeep came with all the right options - leather wheel (rare in a non-Laredo Wrangler), factory A/C (although it didn't work but I didn't mind), wide-tired steelies (which I painted) with an aluminum spare, and the 4.2L straight-six with the 5-speed manual transmission. Fuel economy was, um, predictably bad, especially since the six came with a computer-controlled carburetor (while the 4-cylinder model came with fuel injection, interestingly). The best I got was 15 mpg in the summer, and about 11-12 mpg in the winter - mostly suburban driving.
The driving experience was unique, again filled with a lot of character. The steering wheel wasn't on quite straight, but the handling was predictable, and as long as you didn't try anything stupid, the Jeep was surprisingly nimble. Foul-weather handling is this Jeep's forte, and has few competitors in that realm - I rarely had to use 4WD even on the worst of snowy roads. The best thing is that Low Range coupled with first gear produced a great "Jeep Crawl" that could allow me to navigate down my steep driveway without having to apply the brakes - pretty cool.
I drove this car all throughout my senior year, and even though my cousin's wife offered to give me the car, at $2k/year in insurance, coupled with the addition of a brand-new 2005 Mini Cooper S to the family stable (which bumped my mom's 1998 A4 down to me) forced me to give up my high school ride. It's a shame I never got to turn a wrench on it (it was EXTREMELY reliable) or modify it, but it has moved on to serve another person's needs, just as it had served mine.Jan 20, 2009

ultiliterian, black, mean, powerfull, fast, loud 2 doors, covertable, and can get through anything, i love him to bits!
acceleration, is really good, braking is good, handles really gd for an old 4x4.
solid body, roof has needed replacing as it is canvas, clutch used to squeak but fine now.
rugged outer styling and very utiliterian interior, simple and cool.
petrol is ok when driven sensible. repairs do cost abit.
u cant get anymore fun then driving with the roof off, music blasting out and wind in ur hair lolOct 15, 2008

It is a jeep with a inline 6 cylinder, 5 speed, with 4 wheel drive so it is not a perfomance vehicle it is a cruiser. This jeep is built good. I am having to replace my Spider gears and the third member that got damaged in the rear end. When I bought it the guy told me it has all new interior he redone the upholstery, new seats, and console. The jeep gets about 20 mpg. U just have to make sure u clean the top once in a while clean everything make sure yo change ur oil when needed to. Having the top down is fun to do when cruising around town.Sep 25, 2008

There was no place i could not go. Mud, snow, ice - nothing stopped me from getting to where i needed to be. Soft top in the summer was awesome and heater was a volcano in the winter. Wife loved it, too. Too bad the kids came along or i's still have it ...Aug 29, 2008

I loved my wrangler and I miss it dearly. She treated me so well, like a king. I would absolutely recommend this vehicle to anyone. Im getting a little teary eyed just thinking about her, she was the best. the only part that is somewhat of a down side is the milage. Jul 28, 2008

1994 was the last year you could get a Wrangler without airbags and a car-like padded interior. I never changed any of the suspension on this Jeep and have never had any problems getting stuck. It been driven from Auburn, Alabama to Seattle, Washington and back with never a problem. My only changes have been a new soft top with soft doors, a roll cage speaker system, and the tube bumpers and side bars.Jul 08, 2008

One of the best vehicles we ever owned. It was great to get out during a snow storm and drive and drive. It was also fun to put the back window up,roll the windows down, and cruise in the summer time. If you can only get one vehicle for fun, make it a Jeep ! Jun 11, 2008

This Jeep is a great vehicle. The axles leave a little to be desired, however they are not terribly difficult to swap out. The inline 6 is much more desired over the inline 4Jun 04, 2008

It's fun to drive. Cheap to fix... I mean really cheap. I had to replace about half of the whole clutch system and it only cost around 300 dollars if i remember right. Total repair costs after 11 years probably arent above $1000. It'll out-mud a Blazer or Explorer lifted 3 times higher than it. It'll still run when it's broken 3 different ways (I know this from experience). I get compliments from people nearly everywhere I go. The YJ model Wrangler is destined to be a classic motor vehicle of our time.Feb 28, 2008
