I have 248,000 miles on my 08 CR-V. This is the best car I’ve owned ( I’m 68) no oil issues, same timing chain and tensioner. However I wonder if it would be wise to replace the tensioner? Regardless, this engine is fast! Quick acceleration , everything about the engine is good. It’s not a real comfortable ride but I’m running mud & snow tires too. Haven’t replaced much, starter, battery, AC, front shocks, back struts this weekend…. Brakes, shoes and pads… that’s about it. For the miles it’s done me good! Random stuff going now, door locks, fan for the AC, radio is spotty and cd players shot . It’s showing age but I’ll drive it till it dies most likely.. it’s not the best time to buy a new one with prices rising everywhere you turn. Thanks Honda!! Oct 09, 2024

I got it to save on gas and wear/tear on my Jeep. For a 2008 model its honestly a smooth little car. Roomy, comfortable, and the K24 is a strong little engine. MPG is decent for the size of the vehicle. Do your research, and find you a good one and you’ll be pleased!Jul 26, 2024

The Honda CRV comes with great recommendations and reliability ratings and only a few issues to watch for. Sleek look. Handles with a smooth responsive drive. Roomy for a family of 4-5. Similar to the Equinox, but with greater reliability and few issues.Jun 08, 2022

I bought this car new in 2007 because I started a new job that was a little distance away, I have been driving it for almost 14 years now without any problems. I am now retired and I am happy that this car is easy to get into and also has enough space in the back for my wheel chair. The car is spacious and easy to drive. I plan on keeping it for many years to come.Jul 19, 2021

Thirteen years with my CR-V and all I needed was a rack and pinion at 140,000. Just kept the oil changed and maintained. Loved my 2007 Honda CR-V. I have to replace it because it was totaled. It took care of me for 13 years. Nov 14, 2020

I bought this car for my daughter. She loves it! This car was the EX edition so it had all of the bell and whistles. (Sunroof, heated seats, sunglass holder, leather seats, AUX.... everything a 20 year old wants). I would compare it to the Acura RDX. Aug 26, 2020

This was the worst car I have ever seen. I was on the lookout for a car for quite awhile and this was by far the worst one I have seen. The locks did not unlock by themselves and made a shuttering noise. The doors didnt open from the outside and continued the shuttering noise whenever a turn was made. The steering wheel sat with the wheels straight completely turned to the side and was difficult to move. This car was not ready to be sold and is absolute garbage.Jun 19, 2020

The 2008 Honda CR-V has been a great family car. The room and cargo space has been enough for long road trips. We are looking forward to possibly purchasing a newer Honda CR-V such as a 2016 model! We love our Honda!May 27, 2015

Most everything works for us. Right size, reliable, comfortable and looks pretty good. I wish it had an extra gear or two so that the mileage was better. I like the reliability of Honda products. Resale is good - and repairs a few and far apart.Jun 09, 2014

One fantastic little SUV/Crossover. No wonder they're number one in sales of small SUV's.
Bought this car new in 2008. Has 42,000 miles now, and not a squeak or rattle anywhere.
It's the top of the line model (EX-L Navi) with black leather seats, Navigation, Silver Exterior,
Weather Tech mats, 3M Clear Bra on front and leading edges, new tires, new battery, trailer hitch (class I), HID Headlights, Factory Honda Fog Lights, Magnaflow Exhaust, Honda Running Boards and Splash Guards, Privacy Glass in all rear windows, 50% Tint in front door windows, Monochromatic Rear View Mirror with Compass, Honda Rear Hatch Spoiler, K&N 1 Million Mile Air Filter, and Runs with Mobil 1 Oil.Jun 13, 2013

Fun to drive Comfy for long drives(13 hr).
Brakes are powerful,
Power is there when you need it, 168 BHP It's good, Can be better by some
modification.
if you take care of the maintenance the only thing need to be change is Oil and
Brakes .Mar 16, 2013

My 2008 Honda CRV LX never had a mechanical problem. I just sold it to some nice folks and I had and have NO reservations about selling it to them. They will love the car and it will love them back.Feb 16, 2013

Nothing to complain about. Car could handle 2 large labrador retrievers and groceries. Great fuel economy. Never had any problems with this car over the 4 years we've owned it. Would buy another one for the family in a heartbeat.Feb 11, 2013

Great fun easy car to use and drive. Feels good to sit higher than cars but not like driving a boat. Holds tons of stuff and has a sweet roof rack. It is black so it will get a bit warm in the summer. Just find a tree to park under and crack the windows.May 31, 2012

I just got it. I bought it used. It seems comfy but according to my GF a bit heavy to drive. Cost of ownership in a 5-year estimate from edmunds puts it at 35k. It seems pretty average for the cost.Jun 02, 2011

Great family car that comfortable for daily use. But the fuel consumption are fairly high. The engine performance are pretty good. Interiors are comfort and good for passenger as well as for transporting goods. Overall this is the best I can get for the price.Jun 25, 2010

A solid car, decent milage 17mpg average town mileage, looks good, no problems so far, fun to drive, handles well, comfortable, and spacious easily fits the family and gear, overall, a great car that I would recommend to others to buy. If they made a 6cylinder, i would be in heaven.May 01, 2009

The CR-V is great. I will never buy a non-AWD car again. I have been able to get up our VERY steep driveway even with 10 inches of snow on the ground. We've had a rough winter so far and I am always confident driving this car.
I haven't needed any repairs.
Highway driving has been great. I sit up high and can see very well. Acceleration has been good and it handles well.
Interior is a little smaller than the old car, but we managed to get everyone and their luggage in for our vacation. When you put down the rear seats, there is a 3 inch lip from the cargo area. Kind of awkward.
The cargo area comes with a cover shelf that you can put lightweight stuff on. It sounds better than it looks. The stuff falls down between the rear seats and into the cargo area. Besides I'm never sure if I'm putting on two much weight for the shelf.
Exteriorwise, it's not a big car, but it just looks big and bulky. The cargo windows are small and visibility is not great.
On another plus side, I can look drive thru people in the eye.

This is a fantastic car for someone who wants better mileage than a full size SUV and better handling in the winter than a mini van. There is plenty of room for hockey bags and it travels through the snow with ease. The best part for kids is that the back seat is extremely roomy and comfortable. Great vehicle!Dec 11, 2008

Acceleration is mediocre but the ride quality is extremely smooth otherwise. The engine is quiet and doesn't rev too high. I average around 20 mpgs doing mostly city driving which is pretty good. Leather seats are extremely comfortable and all the temperature and audio controls are easy to figure out. 270 watt sound system is a bit overkill for AM/FM radio and XM but it is awesome with CDs or iPod (via the auxiliary input). Plenty of legroom in the front and back for a car its size and the middle seat in the back is decently wide. Overall solid car with quality materials inside and out and easy handling. Compared to the similar Rav4 which costs more, this is a way better car! Dec 11, 2008

Had it now for almost a year and nothing bad to report. Again Honda build quality shines through, the car is just about as reliable and as good as most Honda's are. The only downside is a non-optional V-6 engine, which is fine, but the transmission is setup to change gear at 4-5 thousand RPM, but it has never felt slowDec 01, 2008

PERFoRmANce wisE iTs GREAT. THE oNLy dRAwbAck is the responsiveness of the engine (coz its drive-by-wire) so not as responsive as the 1st model build. But the interior and exterior styling, they're more than make up for the drawback. So i guess i would still vote for this car as one of the BEsT in its cLAss. ^.~v! cHEERz.Nov 19, 2008

The performance is amazing considering a 4 cylinder SUV, it accelerates quickly and the handling is amazing. The build quality is top notch, from the paint finish to the sturdieness of the doors. There are no squeaks or rattles of any sort. The appearence is top notch, looking very classy on the outside and inside. The cost of ownership is very little as the gas mileage is high for a 4 wheel drive and it is a Honda so it has very little maintenence needs. It is a very fun car to drive and I love my car.Aug 01, 2008
