My First Car!
Performance wise it was quite nippy for a small car. It was a 1.0l but was 16v which gave it a small boost. It handled really well and you could really fly into corners in this car as you stuck to the ground.
The build quality wasn't great and I often needed to replace parts. Possibly more to do with my driving at the time however. But I seemed to go through CV joints, gearboxes and clutches with my Micra. I haven't had the same problem with any other car so may well have been the car itself.
It looked like the standard small car at the time and still does. It is nothing special in any way whatsoever but its perfect for a first car.
The mileage on it was excellent as well. I drove this car for years and done thousands of miles. The fuel consumption was also great so a nice cheap car to run.Aug 07, 2009

Everyone associates teh Micra with Old People or young girls. Which is suprising really when you consider the performance of this little car - it out classes the Citroen Saxo on pick up and on top speed - yet so many 'boy racers' ahve the Saxo and would not touch the Micra with barge pole! Why? I think this is down to looks - whatever Nissan do they cannot make the Micra look appealing or sport at all! Lets face it why do they need to when it is perfectly obvious that they have a market for it already! I was surprised at this little car and we kept it for a long time. Lots of fun to drive, top speed of about 95mph (compared to the Saxo which struggled at anything over 50mph) Easy to drive and so easy to park. Fuel efficient and chaep to insure. Not many repairs needed although the front steering/shocks 'boot' went and was a noisy banging - so we got rid as this was expensive to repair.Nov 08, 2008

Had my little Micra in the early Nineties, and it use to get me from Scunny to Dortmund no problem at all.
Top reliability, and she only had a 1.1 Engine.
She was slate grey and a god awefull beige interior
H Reg, sadly binned as i needed a more powerful car for the Boxhead Autobahns...lolAug 15, 2008

Very basic styling and boxy interior. No mod cons or extras. Very Economical but quiet nippy
for driving around town. Not exactly the best looking car around, but it is Japanese.Dec 27, 2007
