Love the 5 speed stick but hate the carberator and vac-um issues of the 1988-1989 years. wish I could find a fuel injected 5 speed to put my fresh engine in!
Bought this car for $1500 when we first got married (20 years ago). It got me through Paramedic school, and She through RN school. Now that we have 2 children who are getting older? My plan's are to restore it and finish giving it a make over worthy of the years service it has given us. When finished.... Now that we can??? Take my wife out to eat, and to movies in it. ;-)Oct 23, 2012

It's a piece of crap with no a/c and that sucks to have in AZ. But I am not going to complain about 41+ miles to the gallon. I have hybrid mileage with buying a hybrid. Bite me hybrids.Jul 11, 2010

The Ford Festiva I had was a junker I purchased for $800 before going away to college so that I would have something to get around with. While it was excellent on gas, and was great for tooling around, it was pretty darn crappy in regards to performance. The thing had 5 gears but you couldn't touch 5th unless on the highway. Definitely a college kid crappy car. Mar 15, 2009

Wasn't the best looking car, but wasn't the worst. It ran, and it was better than walking. A large semi or strong sneeze would make it switch lanes. small parts were always falling off of it, but it somehow stayed together. Somehow parts were expensive as nobody carried them, and were special order or dealer only. Gas milleage was great as a headwind would increase it and you could coast for miles. Lots of storage space as it was completely plastic an devoid of any sound proofing material.Jul 25, 2008

My festiva used to get about 45 miles to the gallon. Great little car to run around with.. just do not expect to get there fast. As it gets older its a fun run around and beat it up car. And so long as you do not care how people look at you then if you keep it running it can be a good vehicle to keep in todays gas pricesSep 26, 2007
