This is all steel, back when cars were made of pure steel.Like they said, there is no substute for cubic inches. No ECM no computer brain,if you got fuel and spark it will start and run all day long. You will have to put fuel in this bad boy, back then who cared about fuel economy!Jul 04, 2014

Whats not to like? Great performance, full frame suspension, styling sedate but very well done,4 speed, air conditioning I also own a Corvette C5 Vert and its every bit as fun to drive and own. I have kids and have a great musclecar with a rear seat for cruises, shows etc. Head turner absolutely everywhere. The 70 has it all. I also had a 69 SS Camaro 4 speed and the Chevelle is far superior. On a long trip the ride quality is fantastic. A garage is a must and the more you drive it the better it is! What is interesting is the ones that have 2 or 3 musclecars and keep their Chevelles the longest. Apr 18, 2011

Great car . Out of all the cars I've had I wish I still had this one . Performance was good . Build quality inside and out was good. Handing wasn't to bad with front and rear sway bars . Braking was good with power disc brakes .Jun 25, 2010

LOUD!!!!!!! needs tail pipes and a little bit more tlc. needs the rest of the ss package trim to look like a complete 1970 ss. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this car. can beat most any car on the road. 430 horses of pure muscle.Jun 17, 2010

Performance: 307 V8 plus Powerglide was adequate, no tire-smoker.
Build quality: Whatever came from the factory was solid, whatever was put together in the driveway was our own fault.
Appearance: Had a '71 nose on a '70 body with primer on front clip. Ran nice but looked like a hooptie.
Cost of ownership: Next to nothing thanks to a pile of spare parts left over from the reconstruction.
Fun factor: It ran. For a 19-year-old, that was fun enough.Jun 08, 2010

pure american muscle, with a 396 ci engine and muncie 4 speed. a real head turner. you don't drive this car for the gas mileage, you drive it fun. it's a pavment pounding beast, that burns rubber in all 4 gears. FYI i won this car in the cruisin the coast, make a wish raffle.Dec 20, 2009

This car was fast. I built a stroker motor for it. The engine put out around 420 horsepower. The transmission was a TH350 with a stall converte. The rearend was a 12 bolt posi, with 3.73 gears. I took it down to New England Dragway and it ran the quartermile in 12.8 seconds @ 105 mph.Oct 06, 2009

Performance- accelerates hard, brakes a little weak, handles like a boat. Build quality- Has needed extensive repairs, no more squeaks and rattles. appearance- They dont build them like this anymore. Cost of ownership- not for the timid. Gas mileage is terrible, but worth it. Fun factor is off the chart.Sep 18, 2009

The 1970 Chevelle is a definite dream car. The car turns heads period. The rumble of the engine, sound of the exhaust - even just sitting at a red light - will get you more head nods and thumbs up than you would ever expect. The lines are clean on this car and even if the car were just primer colored people would stop to tell you how beautiful the car is.Jul 28, 2009

the 1970 chevelle ss was one of the top ten fastest muslecars stock it ran 13 seconds in the quarter mile. it came with a 454 450 hp engine(you could also get other engines but it was the most powerfull) Mine hasa zz454 crate engine from gm the engine was built as a circle track race engine because it has 500hp and 540lb ft of tourque and is very light weight. it is also backed by tci streetfighter transmission turbo 400. dual 3inch mandrel bend exhaust. and it performs very well. the acceleration and top speed are great but at almost 18 feet long it handles like a boatJan 19, 2009

This was one of my favourite cars. It had the SS396/375HP package, bored out to 413 with an Isky cam, Weiand manifold and a holley 750cfm carb. The trans was a Turbo 400 with a Hurst dual gate shifter, 12 bolt rear with 3.73 gears.
0-60 times were 5 seconds or less if you could get the tires to hook.
If I could buy it back again I would.Sep 19, 2008

This was a car I rebuilt myself. This car is true to the "take no prisoners" 454, with an 800-cfm Holley four barrel on an aluminum manifold, 11.25:1 compression, solid lifters, four-bolt mains, forged steel crank and connecting rods, forged aluminum pistons, and deep-groove accessory pullies. It has a Turbo 400 automatic and has Positraction which was an option back in 1970.
She has matching numbers. She has been restored to near mint condition.
Exterior is silver with black racing stripes down the hood and trunk. Interior is black.
This beauty is obviously not my daily driver, but I do take her out of the garage on weekends. She's been the best car I've owned thus far. Find her stats below:
Engine:
V-8
Horsepower 450 @ 5600
Torgue 500@ 3600
Performance:
0-60 in 6.1 seconds
1/4 mile 13.7 @ 103mph
I would recommend the 1970 LS6 to anyone interested in a beefy, yet sultry muscle car.

One of the most desired body styles of its era, if not all time. Great power, gorgeous lines and a great build quality that has lasted almost 40 years. Just an all around classy car. Fits in anywhere from the drag strip to the showroom floor! The Chevelle is a must for any serious car collector! ^_^Aug 18, 2008

I love it..this one i have has a PAR 565 cubic inch big block that has ran 9.67 at 134mph ..peddling it 3 times in the quarter...if i can get the correct set up it should go low 9,s and high 8,s on the bottle with any luck..the only thing i dis liked originally was how heavy it was..i cured that bye going all fiberglass except the roof now it weighs 2450lbs with me in it.Aug 09, 2008

great car will pass everything but a gas station
own a bank to drive daily
win the lottery to keep running
parts are getting hard to find
do not need to have computer knowledge to work on it
pliers, screwdriver, and wire are needed to keep running to make it homeAug 01, 2008

Likes: It looks awesome! It has a big engine.
Dislikes: They are old (no new technology). I don't own it. American made: probably not the most reliable.Jun 23, 2008

I have had the car for 11 years. That has to say something about the car--I don't keep anything longer than about 8 months, usually.May 11, 2008

I found 3 build sheets proving it was one of the real 4500 SS454 LS5 equipped models. Purchased it in 1981, parked it in 1982, restored it in 2005. Apr 09, 2008

bought it new in 70 ss454 LS6.couldnt leave it alone,488 rear, distributor work, rejet the carb,10:65 slicks went to New England Dragway and missed the national record in its class by two one hundreths of a second. The performance of that car was second to none.Dec 22, 2006
