How Many Miles On A Timing Belt, 2001 VW Passat?

2002 Manual Golf 2.0 Wont Start

My car died and it does not turn over when I try to start it. The radio comes on when I turn the key but pushing the clutch in to start does nothing. Could it be the starter or something else?
