What should I look for when buying a used Toyota Tacoma?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0), including Lane Tracing Assist, lane-departure alert with steering assist, oncoming vehicle collision avoidance assist, road-sign assist, emergency stop system, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

Which Toyota Tacoma trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma offers these trims:

• Tacoma: The standard 2.4-litre turbocharged i-FORCE engine, 4WD, an eight-speed automatic, and the new coil spring multi-link rear suspension make this the core Tacoma setup for buyers who want the model’s modern redesign and everyday capability.
• TRD Sport: Sport-tuned shocks add a more road-focused character while keeping the Tacoma’s truck utility intact.
• TRD Off Road: Monotube Bilstein shocks and 17-inch off-road alloys give this trim a stronger off-road hardware set.
• Premium packages: Heated and ventilated SofTex-trimmed seats, the 14-inch centre display, and the larger-screen tech upgrade make these the best-value choice if you want the most comfort and equipment.
• i-Force Max hybrid: The hybrid powertrain is reserved for maximum capability and is the most advanced Tacoma setup in the lineup.

What Toyota Tacoma do most buyers choose?

The Toyota Tacoma years with the most listings are 2024, 2023, and 2025.

These higher-volume years tend to be the most popular because they give you the broadest mix of availability, pricing, and equipment. They also sit close to the Tacoma’s newer redesigns, which makes them especially appealing to shoppers who want modern features without moving all the way to the newest model year.

What is the Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

Most Tacoma model years are down year over year, which is good news if you are shopping used and want to benefit from softer pricing. The largest drops are concentrated in the newer and older ends of the range, while several mid-range years have moved down more modestly. That pattern still reflects the Tacoma’s strong resale reputation, but it also creates more room for used buyers to find value.

The 2018, 2019, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
