What should I look for when buying a used Subaru WRX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: The WRX's Natural Resources Canada fuel economy ratings of 10.8 litres per 100 kilometres combined (12.3 city, 9.0 highway) with the manual transmission and 11.2 L/100 km combined (12.7 city, 9.4 highway) with the CVT are respectable for a performance car.

Which Subaru WRX trim should I buy?

The 2023 Subaru WRX offers these trims:

• WRX: The base model gives you the WRX formula at the lowest entry point, with the standard manual transmission, all-wheel drive, and the model’s core performance character. It suits you if you want the essential WRX experience and the strongest value.
• Sport: This trim adds the 11.6-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen and the available CVT with Subaru Performance Transmission, along with EyeSight when equipped that way. It is the best-value choice if you want a richer tech and convenience mix.
• Sport-Tech: This trim adds the most upscale equipment in the lineup, including the 11-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system, Ultrasuede upholstery with red stitching, a 10-way adjustable bucket driver’s seat, and steering-responsive headlights with automatic high beams. It suits you if you want the most comfort and equipment.

What Subaru WRX do most buyers choose?

The Subaru WRX years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Higher-volume model years tend to attract more shoppers because they offer more choice, broader availability, and easier comparison shopping. They also often sit close to the sweet spot between newer features and used-car pricing.

What is the Subaru WRX's resale value?

Most WRX model years are showing negative year-over-year movement, which is good news if you are shopping used and want more value for your money. The declines are especially pronounced in several older and mid-cycle years, while the newest examples are also easing from their prior pricing. Overall, the table points to a market where buyers have meaningful room to shop for a better deal.

The 2023, 2021, and 2016 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
