What should I look for when buying a used Subaru Outback?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Subaru EyeSight suite of advanced safety features, including frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and lane centring assist, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic braking, automatic emergency steering, emergency stop assist, haptic steering wheel alerts, a driver attention monitor, adaptive headlights, and automatic high beams.

What Subaru Outback do most buyers choose?

The Subaru Outback years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2021.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you a wider selection of trims, prices, and equipment levels. They also often sit in the sweet spot between newer features and more accessible used pricing.

What is the Subaru Outback's resale value?

Most model years are down year over year, and several have seen double-digit declines. That pattern can work in your favour as a used buyer because it opens up more value in recent and mid-cycle examples. A small number of older years are moving differently, but the overall direction is still clearly lower for most of the lineup.

The 2014, 2016, and 2021 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
