The Mazda CX-90's current nationwide average price is $42,688 CAD, and its lowest point over the past year was $42,648 CAD. Recently, prices have come down for the 2024 and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Expert reviews rate the 2024 and 2025 models among the highest across all years.
The main trade-offs are a ride that can feel firm, an infotainment system that takes some getting used to, and drivetrain refinement that can be uneven at times.
29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Are Mazda CX-90 models reliable?
Owners consistently rate the Mazda CX-90 highly, and expert coverage repeatedly points to its premium materials, strong safety content, and appealing driving character. The model’s overall reputation in the data is supported by solid owner scores across every year shown.
- Owners rate the Mazda CX-90 between 4.33 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.
For used buyers, long-term ownership risk looks manageable, especially if you prioritise well-maintained examples and verify service history.
What should I look for when buying a used Mazda CX-90?
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Mazda’s standard driver-assistance suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam headlights.
- Infotainment: The CX-90’s infotainment screen is touch-sensitive only when you’re using wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, while the native Mazda Connect platform uses the knob and buttons on the centre console.
- Fuel efficiency: The official Natural Resources Canada rating is 9.3 litres per 100 kilometres combined with the standard output engine and 9.5 L/100 km combined with the high-output version. The available plug-in hybrid powertrain is rated at 42 kilometres of electric range and 9.4 L/100 km combined once the battery is depleted.
Which Mazda CX-90 trim should I buy?
The 2025 Mazda CX-90 offers these trims:
- GS-L: A strong starting point that gives you the CX-90’s premium design, standard all-wheel drive, and the core family-SUV character at the lowest entry point.
- GS: Adds more equipment while staying close to the value end of the range, making it a sensible pick if you want a well-equipped CX-90 without moving too far up the ladder.
- GT: A balanced choice that adds a more upscale feel and is a good-value trim for many shoppers.
- GT-P: The best-value trim if you want the high-output 3.3 Turbo, since this trim brings the stronger engine and a more performance-focused setup.
- Signature: The most luxurious choice, with the richest materials and the most premium presentation for buyers who want the CX-90 at its most upscale.
What Mazda CX-90 do most buyers choose?
The Mazda CX-90 years with the most listings are 2025, 2024, and 2026.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | 413 | 29.3% |
| 2024 | 374 | 31.3% |
| 2026 | 208 | 26.4% |
Higher-volume years usually give you more choice, more pricing competition, and a better chance of finding the trim and condition you want. They also tend to be the easiest years to compare side by side because there are more examples on the market.
What is the Mazda CX-90's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | $43,055 CAD | −18.38% |
| 2024 | $40,887 CAD | −11.61% |
Both model years show notable year-over-year price declines, which can work in your favour if you’re shopping used. The larger drop on the newer year suggests recent examples have become more accessible, while the older year has also moved down meaningfully. That creates a useful buying window if you want a newer CX-90 without paying close to original pricing.
The 2024 and 2025 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
Is the Mazda CX-90 safe?
- 2025: 9/10
- 2024: 8/10
Mazda’s standard driver-assistance suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam headlights.
For the safest used buy, the 2025 model posts the highest confirmed score of 9/10.
Should I buy a used Mazda CX-90 now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −18.38% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −11.61%.
- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 29.3% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 31.3%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2025 model has the most listings at a current average price of $43,055 CAD. The Mazda CX-90 offers a premium-feeling cabin and a stylish, upscale character that make it stand out in the three-row SUV class.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: The standard-output engine generates 280 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, the high-output version delivers 319 hp and 369 lb-ft, and the plug-in hybrid is rated at 42 kilometres of electric range with a 9.4 L/100 km combined rating once the battery is depleted.
- Tech: The CX-90 offers a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.
- Safety: The latest model adds steering assist to the blind-spot monitoring system, emergency lane-keeping assist, a safe exit warning system, front cross-traffic alert, front parking sensors, a surround-view camera system, and Cruising and Traffic Support.
- Starting price: Pricing ranges from $48,846 CAD to $67,886 CAD.
If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

Just bought a 2024 Mazda CX-90 Preferred. So far I love the looks, the interior, and the Turbo Inline 6. It is a blast to drive. It is powerful, responsive, the cabin is quiet, and it feels great to drive! There is a lack of storage space. The center console is very shallow and the glove compartment is a little small as well. It has less legroom and cargo space than others that I test drove in the same class (Telluride, Pilot). I actually liked the Telluride interior a little better but the CX-90 is more fun to drive and is a better value over all.

Great for freeway, longer hauls, and road trips. Smartly designed quiet cockpit with well placed interface knobs to control all CarPlay and other features. Smart cruise control has some quirks in turns if theres a vehicle in front of you in the parallel lane. It slows you down as if it thinks the other vehicle is in your lane instead of passing it properly. Heard a software update is coming for that. Smart cruise doesnt send hand on wheel but rather you have to steer a little for it to know your hands are present on the wheel. Higher end vehicles sense your hand on the wheel without having to actually turn the wheel slightly. By far the biggest pain point is the low tailgate opening height. If you are over 6-feet tall, you will hit your head on this low hanging gate. Many, many, times. Even if you think you will learn to duck, you will still hit your head. After a year, its become a deal breaker. Unfortunate because there is no engineering reason that it could not be designed to swing up a few inches higher to allow taller drivers access to the back without having duck under the tailgate. Perhaps Japanese designers did not properly consider the height of many American men who are 62 and above in height. Also to note, when using the on board fitment feature to set seat and steering wheel heights, the telescoping steering wheel does not project outward enough for tall drivers. With long legs, you want the seat far back, but the steering wheel does not come out that far, so youre reaching for the wheel, which isnt comfortable. Blanket statement, this is not a vehicle for tall people over 6-feet.. That said, this vehicle is a great driver, quiet and comfortable, with a strong spirited engine. Good design overall. Plus my driving averaged 24mpg which is excellent for the size. Not the most rugged looking vehicle. Not sure it would be the best choice for say outdoor adventures or camping considering the more lux interior. Its refined, understated, and sort of blends in the crowd a bit, which can be a good thing.

CarGurus recommends the 2024 Mazda CX-90

Summary
With 375 currently listed for sale and an average price of $40,904 CAD, 31.7% of 2024 Mazda CX-90 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Mazda CX-90 4.33 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8 / 10.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Mazda CX-90 stands out as a three-row crossover with the heart of a sports car. Mazda positions it as an all-new family-hauling SUV that is meant to be enjoyable to drive, and that character comes through in its rear-wheel-drive architecture and its excellent handling. It also brings a turbocharged straight-six engine, with a PHEV available if preferred, giving buyers a choice of powertrains that are described as terrific.
Beyond its driving manners, the 2024 Mazda CX-90 is also notable for its stylish design and its overall composure. It is presented as a compelling alternative for shoppers who want a large SUV without giving up driver engagement, and it is even described as offering up to a nearly 50% discount from the surprisingly similar BMW X5. The main drawbacks are that the PHEV electric range could be better and the technology can be frustrating, but for buyers who value handling, power, and style in a three-row package, the CX-90 has a distinctive appeal.
