Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, a surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, traffic-sign recognition, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver-attention monitor
- Infotainment: the 13.1-inch display with Apple CarPlay, factory navigation, audio interface, and the surround-view camera system
- Fuel efficiency: The base six-cylinder powertrain is EPA-rated at 22 mpg combined (20 mpg city and 25 mpg highway). Fuel economy drops to 19 mpg combined (16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway) with the V8 (SV models get 22 mpg highway), while plug-in hybrids offer 21 mpg combined when the battery is depleted.
Which Land Rover Range Rover Sport trim should I buy?
The 2026 Land Rover Range Rover Sport offers these trims:
- SE: The entry point brings the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six with 355 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, plus standard full-time 4WD, an eight-speed automatic, locking center and rear differentials, and adaptive dampers with air springs.
- Dynamic SE: This trim adds the electric supercharger for 395 hp and 406 lb-ft, making it the best-value choice for buyers who want stronger response without jumping to the upper tiers.
- Dynamic SE plug-in hybrid: This version pairs the turbocharged inline-six with a 32-kilowatt-hour battery pack and electric motor for up to 53 miles of EPA-rated gas-free driving and 454 hp in hybrid mode.
- Twenty Edition: This trim pairs the plug-in hybrid system with the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 and 523 hp, adding a more powerful and more exclusive setup.
- Autobiography: This trim brings the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque for buyers who want the V8 experience in a luxury-focused package.
- SV: This trim steps up to 626 hp from the BMW V8 with a revised ECU tune, a new intake, and a sport exhaust system, along with the most extreme performance focus in the lineup.
What Land Rover Range Rover Sport do most buyers choose?
The Land Rover Range Rover Sport years with the most listings are 2024, 2023, and 2025.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 1,474 | 34.6% |
| 2023 | 1,263 | 34% |
| 2025 | 1,234 | 34.4% |
| 2019 | 1,131 | 34.6% |
| 2020 | 1,098 | 35.2% |
| 2021 | 1,045 | 34.9% |
These higher-volume years tend to be the most visible used picks because they give you more inventory to compare and more chances to find the right trim, mileage, and price. They also tend to attract shoppers looking for a newer-feeling Range Rover Sport without moving all the way to the newest model year.
What is the Land Rover Range Rover Sport's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2021 | $34,301 | −17.75% |
| 2018 | $23,413 | −16.56% |
| 2020 | $29,840 | −16.2% |
| 2022 | $44,579 | −15.2% |
| 2017 | $18,278 | −15.16% |
| 2015 | $14,672 | −15.02% |
| 2019 | $26,493 | −13.78% |
| 2014 | $13,341 | −12.35% |
| 2023 | $63,823 | −12.16% |
| 2024 | $71,697 | −11.89% |
| 2025 | $85,233 | −10.4% |
| 2016 | $16,150 | −9.51% |
Most model years in the table are down year over year, which creates more room for used buyers to find value. The newer years are also showing double-digit declines, so recent-model shoppers may find especially attractive pricing relative to where these vehicles were a year ago. The smallest drops are concentrated in the oldest and newest entries, which suggests some years are holding value better than others.
The 2016, 2025, and 2024 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport has consistently impressed owners across all model years with its blend of luxury, powerful performance, and off-road capabilities. Drivers often rave about the comfortable, high-quality interiors and smooth rides. However, concerns about fuel efficiency, reliability, and high maintenance costs are common drawbacks noted by many. Picked up a used 2016 Range Rover Td6 with about 98k miles and honestly, I’m really happy with it so far. It still feels super smooth and comfortable—exactly what you’d expect from a Range Rover. The ride is quiet, and the interior still looks and feels pretty high-end even for its age. The diesel engine has plenty of torque and actually gets decent fuel economy, which was a nice surprise. Even with the mileage, it doesn’t feel worn out or tired at all, which says a lot about how these hold up if they’re taken care of. Tech-wise, it’s not brand new obviously, but everything still works well and does what I need. And if you care about off-roading, it definitely lives up to the reputation. That said, with something close to 100k miles, you really want to make sure it’s been maintained properly. As long as it has a good service history, I think it’s a great value for the money. Overall, no regrets—really enjoying it so far.

I did not see this car in person, but they did a wonderful job of video walk arounds. They were very honesty and pointing out a scratches in the paint and other minor defects that you wouldnt see just looking online. I did not end up with this particular Range Rover Sport, but did buy one closer to home. For the money you cant beat the Range Rover styling and appointments. I have the full size Range Rover diesel, and I love it. This is a luxury midsize SUV originally costing over $80,000. To get that for less than 20 is pretty amazing. Theres a lot of bias out there in terms of reliability, but I do much of the work myself and have found them to be wonderful trucks.

Why it stands out
The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport stands out by blending luxury with genuine off-road ability. It is equally at home on pavement or dirt, and it goes further than many luxury SUVs with composed, dynamic on-road handling. That combination gives it a distinctive appeal for buyers who want an opulent SUV that does not feel limited to city streets or highway cruising.
It also offers multiple powertrain options and available three-row seating, which broadens its usefulness. At the same time, it is not without compromises: the technology can be unintuitive, and cargo space is limited when the third row is in use. Even so, its mix of refinement, capability, and versatility makes it a compelling choice in the luxury SUV space.
