What should I look for when buying a used Chevrolet Trax?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: The Trax is rated by Natural Resources Canada at 8.1 litres per 100 kilometres combined (8.5 city, 7.6 highway).

Which Chevrolet Trax trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax offers these trims:

• 1RS: The base 1RS brings an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, and a four-speaker audio system, making it the entry point for shoppers who want the Trax’s core tech and value.
• LT: The LT adds the 11-inch touchscreen, an all-digital 8-inch instrument cluster, and a six-speaker sound system, making it the best-value choice for many buyers who want the most noticeable upgrade in everyday usability.
• 2RS: The 2RS adds the larger-screen cabin treatment and RS styling details, including black Chevy Bowtie badges and RS callouts, for shoppers who want a sportier look.
• Activ: The Activ adds black-painted 18-inch wheels, a black grille with chrome accents, and front and rear bumpers styled to look like skid plates, giving the Trax its most rugged appearance.

What Chevrolet Trax do most buyers choose?

The Chevrolet Trax years with the most listings are 2025, 2024, and 2026.

These higher-volume model years tend to attract more shoppers because they offer a wider mix of pricing, trim choices, and availability. That usually makes it easier to compare options and find a Trax that fits your budget and feature priorities.

What is the Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

Most Trax model years show clear year-over-year price declines, which can work in your favour if you are shopping used. The newer model years are also falling, but by smaller percentages than many older ones, so recent Trax inventory still offers meaningful savings versus a year ago.

The 2022, 2024, and 2018 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Chevrolet Trax safe?

• 2026: 4/10
• 2024: 7/10

For the safest used buy, the 2024 model posts the highest confirmed score of 7/10.

Should I buy a used Chevrolet Trax now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −10.52% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −7.6%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 33% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 32.5%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2025 model has the most listings at a current average price of $25,868 CAD. The Chevrolet Trax offers a stylish, city-friendly cabin with a comfortable ride and practical everyday packaging.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The Trax continues with a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive (FWD), and the engine produces 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque.
• Tech: An 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, and a four-speaker audio system are standard on the Trax 1RS base model, while all higher trim levels get an 11-inch touchscreen, an all-digital 8-inch instrument cluster, and a six-speaker sound system.
• Safety: Standard driver-assist features include automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear park assist, and a following distance indicator.

If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

How does the 2026 Chevrolet Trax compare to the 2022 Buick Encore?

The Trax gives you far more inventory to choose from, which can make it easier to find the right trim and price. The Encore's smaller listing pool means fewer options, even though its deal share is slightly higher.
