What should I look for when buying a used BMW 2 Series?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking proximity sensors, and a semi-automated parking system
• Infotainment: a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a wireless charging pad and Harman Kardon premium sound system

Which BMW 2 Series trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW 2 Series offers these trims:

• 228 xDrive Gran Coupe: the sole Canadian model for 2025, with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, 241 horsepower, 295 pound-feet of torque, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and standard all-wheel drive; it suits you if you want the newest 2 Series with standard AWD and a well-equipped compact luxury package.

What BMW 2 Series do most buyers choose?

The BMW 2 Series years with the most listings are 2025, 2026, and 2024.

Higher-volume years usually give you more choice in colour, mileage, and condition, which can make it easier to find the right match. They also tend to be the years shoppers cross-shop most often, so pricing and deal activity are usually more visible.

What is the BMW 2 Series's resale value?

Most model years in the table are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used because it creates more room to find value. The biggest drops are concentrated in several newer and mid-cycle years, while one recent year is nearly flat. Overall, the pattern favours buyers who want a newer 2 Series without paying close to original-market pricing.

The 2024 model year is holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2024, 2017, and 2021 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
