New & Used 2026 Mazda CX-5 for Sale near Ashton, ON

Is the 2026 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 earns an 7.17/10 expert rating, and it is clearly aimed at you if you value style, interior quality, and a strong feature set in a compact crossover. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Mazda’s redesign gives the CX-5 a more modern look and a more spacious, more technologically advanced cabin, while standard all-wheel drive and Google built-in make it feel well equipped across the lineup. The trade-offs are just as clear: the carried-over 187-horsepower engine and six-speed automatic feel dated, and the added weight of the redesign makes the CX-5 feel sluggish when you ask for more from it.

If you want a compact SUV that looks upscale and comes loaded with equipment, the 2026 CX-5 makes a strong case for itself. If you care more about efficiency or performance, the weak powertrain is hard to ignore. Still, 43.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which helps its value proposition.

Is the 2026 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

The 2026 CX-5 is built around a familiar 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder and a six-speed automatic, and Mazda’s own positioning suggests a vehicle that should be straightforward to live with over time. The cabin and chassis updates also point to a more mature, better-insulated package than before.

Mazda’s standard warranty coverage is average for the segment, but in Canada it includes unlimited kilometres for both the three-year basic warranty and the five-year powertrain warranty. That helps reduce some long-term ownership anxiety for used buyers.

The main reliability concern for you is not mechanical complexity, but whether the dated powertrain and higher fuel use will feel acceptable over years of ownership.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Mazda CX-5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base GX trim gets the essentials, but the GS adds the most meaningful everyday upgrades, including 19-inch wheels, a power liftgate, a head-up display, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a 10-way power driver’s seat with memory. The GT adds leather seating and a more premium feel, while the Premium Package brings the biggest tech and convenience upgrades.
• Powertrain: You get one powertrain only: a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder with 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic and standard AWD. It is smooth enough in normal driving, but it feels underpowered in a heavier body.
• Safety package: Every trim includes adaptive cruise control with speed limit assist, automatic emergency braking with turn-across traffic detection and head-on collision mitigation, rear automatic emergency braking with rear cross-traffic alert and pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, blind spot monitors, vehicle exit warning, driver attention alert, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, and dynamic guidelines for the rear-view camera.
• Infotainment: All trims get a 12.9-inch touchscreen, Google built-in, and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wired on the base GX and wireless on the GS and GT. The GT Premium Package adds a 15.6-inch screen.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates it at 9.9 L/100 km in the city, 7.9 on the highway, and 9.0 combined.

Which 2026 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 3 trim levels: GX, GS, GT.

Here’s the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the full redesign, standard AWD, the 12.9-inch touchscreen, Google built-in, and the full safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest price and are comfortable with the most basic wheel and convenience setup.
• GS: This is the best-value trim. It adds the equipment most buyers will actually notice every day, including 19-inch wheels, a power liftgate, a head-up display, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a 10-way power driver’s seat with memory. If you want the sweet spot, this is it.
• GT: This is the trim to choose if you want the more upscale cabin, with leather seating, Bose audio, and SiriusXM satellite radio. It is the right pick if you care more about comfort and premium touches than value.

The GT trim adds an adaptive front-lighting system, and the Premium Package adds front cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, Cruising & Traffic Support with Lane-Change Assist, a driver monitoring system, and a 360-degree View Monitor.

Should I buy a 2026 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 43.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• It gives you a full redesign with standard AWD, Google built-in, and a much more modern cabin.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It is sporty, attractive, and more engaging to drive.

The bottom line: If you want the newest CX-5 with the strongest tech and safety story, the 2026 is the better pick. If you are more price-sensitive and can live with the older generation’s compromises, the 2025 remains the more traditional choice for buyers who value driving enjoyment.
