New & Used 2026 Mazda CX-5 for Sale nearOrleans, ON

Is the 2026 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 earns a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It is a strong fit if you want a compact SUV that looks sharp, feels more upscale than many rivals, and comes well equipped from the start. Mazda’s redesign gives it a more modern cabin and exterior, standard all-wheel drive across the lineup, and Google built-in as standard, so you get a lot of equipment without having to climb the trim ladder.

The trade-offs are clear: the carried-over 187-horsepower engine and six-speed automatic feel dated, and the drivetrain is described as underpowered and thirsty compared with newer hybrid rivals. Even so, the CX-5 remains appealing for buyers who care most about style, interior quality, value, rear passenger space, and cargo room.

With 15.4% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market offers some room for selective shoppers.

Is the 2026 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

The 2026 CX-5 is presented as a familiar Mazda formula with a redesigned body, standard all-wheel drive, and a carryover powertrain, which points to a conservative mechanical approach rather than a risky one. Mazda’s standard three-year basic warranty and five-year powertrain warranty, both with unlimited kilometres in Canada, also help support long-term ownership confidence.

The 2.5-litre naturally aspirated engine and six-speed automatic are described as proven but dated, and the overall package is framed more as a refinement of Mazda’s existing approach than a major mechanical leap. That usually means fewer surprises for used buyers, though the lack of a hybrid option and the thirsty drivetrain can make long-term running costs less attractive.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is not likely to be complexity, but rather living with an older-feeling powertrain that may age poorly against more efficient rivals.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Mazda CX-5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base GX gets the essentials, but the GS adds the most compelling value with 19-inch wheels, a power liftgate, a head-up display, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a 10-way power driver’s seat with memory. The GT adds leather seating and a more premium feel, while the Premium Package brings the larger screen and extra camera and driver-monitoring tech.
• Powertrain: You get a carryover SkyActiv-G 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder with 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic. It is smooth enough in normal driving, but it feels underpowered in a heavier body and can be slow to respond when you need a quick downshift.
• Safety package: Every trim includes adaptive cruise control with speed limit assist, automatic emergency braking with turn-across traffic detection and head-on collision mitigation, rear automatic emergency braking with rear cross-traffic alert and pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, blind spot monitors, vehicle exit warning, driver attention alert, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, and dynamic guidelines for the rear-view camera. The GT adds adaptive front-lighting, and the Premium Package adds front cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, Cruising & Traffic Support with Lane-Change Assist, a driver monitoring system, and a 360-degree View Monitor.
• Infotainment: All trims get a 12.9-inch touchscreen and a 10.2-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Google built-in is standard, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wired on GX and wireless on GS and GT. The GT Premium Package adds a 15.6-inch screen.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates it at 9.9 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 7.9 on the highway, and 9.0 combined. That is among the highest figures in the segment, so efficiency-minded shoppers should pay close attention to fuel costs.

Which 2026 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 3 trim levels: GX, GS, GT.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, and it already gives you standard all-wheel drive, Google built-in, and the full core safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest price and are comfortable with the most basic equipment.
• GS: This is the best-value trim. It adds the features that make the CX-5 feel properly premium, including 19-inch wheels, a power liftgate, a head-up display, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a 10-way power driver’s seat with memory.
• GT: Choose this if you want the more upscale cabin experience, including leather seating, plus the option to add the Premium Package for the larger screen and extra camera and driver-assistance tech.

The GT trim adds an adaptive front-lighting system, and the Premium Package adds front cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, Cruising & Traffic Support with Lane-Change Assist, a driver monitoring system, and the 360-degree View Monitor.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every trim includes adaptive cruise control with speed limit assist, automatic emergency braking with turn-across traffic detection and head-on collision mitigation, rear automatic emergency braking with rear cross-traffic alert and pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, blind spot monitors, vehicle exit warning, driver attention alert, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, and dynamic guidelines for the rear-view camera. Seven airbags come standard across all trims.

The GT trim adds adaptive front-lighting. The Premium Package adds front cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, Cruising & Traffic Support with Lane-Change Assist, a driver monitoring system, and a 360-degree View Monitor. Some of these features are typically reserved for higher trims in rival SUVs, so the CX-5 is well equipped even before you move up the lineup.

Should I buy a 2026 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 15.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• You want the redesigned CX-5 with standard all-wheel drive, Google built-in, and a much more modern cabin.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It blends practicality with a genuinely enjoyable driving experience.

The bottom line: Buy the 2026 if you want the newest design, the most up-to-date tech, and standard AWD in a compact SUV that feels more premium than many rivals. If you are more price-sensitive and can live with the older-generation look and equipment, the 2025 remains worth a look for its more playful character.
