How much does the 2026 Honda Civic cost?

Is the 2026 Honda Civic a good car?

The 2026 Honda Civic earns a 6.8/10 expert rating, and it remains a strong choice if you want a compact car that blends style, driving enjoyment, and premium-feeling materials.

The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Honda’s latest Civic has aged with remarkable grace, and the cabin benefits from premium interior materials. It also gives you a choice of body styles and powertrains, which makes it easy to match the car to your needs.

The trade-offs are clear: it can be noisy at speed, and its technology is described as outdated.

With 32.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market offers some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic reliable?

The 2026 Honda Civic is presented as a dependable model, and Honda ranks high in reliability. It’s also described as the kind of car you can buy, drive for a long time, and spend very little to keep running.

The expert assessment also points to strong cost-effectiveness, with the Civic holding its value well over time and being fuel-efficient, especially in hybrid form.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about durability and more about paying a premium up front for a car that may not be the cheapest compact to own initially.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Honda Civic?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Civic lineup spans sedans and hatchbacks, gas-only and hybrid powertrains, and performance variants such as the Si and Type R. The Civic Sport adds 18-inch wheels and a shiny exhaust outlet tip, while the cabin’s metal honeycomb mesh, piano black plastic, grey textured centre console trim, and metallic accents help it feel more upscale than the base car.
• Powertrain: The Civic LX and Civic Sport use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 150 horsepower and 133 lb-ft of torque, paired with a CVT and paddle shifters. The hybrids use Honda’s two-motor hybrid powertrain, which is described as offering remarkable power and impressive efficiency.
• Safety package: Every Civic gets Honda Sensing, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane centring assist, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights are also standard, while the Sport Touring Hybrid adds front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 7-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto require a cable connection. The Si and Sport Touring Hybrid upgrade to 10.2-inch instrumentation and a 9-inch infotainment display, plus Google built-in, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless smartphone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The Civic’s Natural Resources Canada fuel economy ratings are 7.6 L/100 km in the city, 6.0 L/100 km on the highway, and 6.9 L/100 km combined.

Which 2026 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda Civic is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Civic’s core strengths at the lowest price. You still get Honda Sensing, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and the standard 7-inch displays, but the tech is basic and the cabin is simpler than the higher trims.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more polished look and feel without changing the Civic’s fundamental formula. You get the same 2.0-litre engine, but the Sport’s 18-inch wheels, exterior detailing, and upgraded cabin presentation make it feel more special.
• Sport Hybrid: Choose this if you want the Civic’s stronger efficiency story and the two-motor hybrid powertrain. It’s the trim to target if fuel savings matter more to you than keeping the purchase price as low as possible.
• Sport Touring Hybrid: This is the most feature-rich mainstream Civic trim, with the larger displays, Google built-in, wireless smartphone charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and the premium audio setup. It suits you best if you want the most technology and convenience.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, so you don’t need to move up a trim for the core driver-assistance package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 318 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.08% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $32,513 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $32,598 CAD sits slightly below last year's $34,343 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Civic has softened a bit in the used market, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect the car to remain valuable, but not necessarily immune to broader market cooling.

Because the Civic is still described as holding its value well over time, it should remain a relatively strong resale proposition compared with many compact cars. Even so, the current trend shows that timing and trim choice will matter if you want to maximise your return later.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic safe?

The 2026 Civic earns five-star ratings overall from NHTSA, including four-star frontal impact, five-star side impact, and five-star rollover resistance ratings.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every Civic, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane centring assist, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights are also standard.

One caveat is that the lane-centring assist can feel intrusive without adaptive cruise control, and the adaptive cruise control itself can brake too hard and too long in heavier traffic.

Should I buy a 2026 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.08% compared with last year.
• The 2026 carries over unchanged after the 2025 update, so you’re getting the latest version of this generation.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $29,355 CAD, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $32,598 CAD average.
• It offers a clearer path to an affordable sedan or hatchback.

The bottom line: If you want the newest used Civic with the current market data and a broad selection, the 2026 is the safer default. If your priority is saving money, the 2025 is the better value play.
