How much does the 2026 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 5.81% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 288 listings available, which suggests decent inventory for you to compare trims and prices.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic a good car?

The 2026 Honda Civic earns an expert rating of 6.83/10.

The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

That lines up with Honda’s emphasis on premium interior materials, a cabin that feels more polished than the price suggests, and a lineup that gives you sedans and hatchbacks, plus gas and hybrid powertrains. It also fits the Civic’s appeal as a compact car that is enjoyable to drive and broadly versatile for different buyers.

The trade-offs are clear: it can be noisy at speed, and its technology is described as outdated. The Civic also carries a premium price, so you are paying more than some rivals for the overall package.

Even so, the market still shows 32.3% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic reliable?

Honda describes the Civic as a dependable model, and the broader ownership pitch is that you can buy it, drive it for a long time, and spend very little to keep it running. The expert assessment also points to strong value retention over time, which supports the idea that it should be a sensible long-term ownership choice.

The performance notes reinforce that impression: the Civic’s powertrain is described as adequate and efficient, and the car’s driving behaviour is polished rather than troublesome. Honda also positions the Civic as a model that “just works for years and years.”

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright dependability and more about whether you are comfortable paying a premium for a car that is not the cheapest to buy.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Honda Civic?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Civic Sport adds 18-inch wheels, a shiny exhaust outlet tip, and a more polished look and feel than the base LX, while the cabin still feels more upscale than its price suggests. The base trim is more basic, so you should check whether you want the extra visual and interior touches of the Sport.
• Powertrain: LX and Sport use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 150 horsepower and 133 lb-ft of torque, paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive. The hybrids use Honda’s two-motor hybrid powertrain, which is described as offering remarkable power and impressive efficiency.
• Safety package: Every Civic gets Honda Sensing, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane centring assist, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights are also standard, while the Sport Touring Hybrid adds front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 7-inch digital instrument panel and a 7-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, but they require a cable connection. Larger 10.2-inch instrumentation and 9-inch infotainment displays, plus Google built-in, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless smartphone charging, are reserved for the Si and Sport Touring Hybrid.
• Fuel efficiency: The Civic returns 7.6 L/100 km in the city, 6.0 L/100 km on the highway, and 6.9 L/100 km combined. On the test loop, it returned 7.4 L/100 km.

Which 2026 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda Civic is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point if you want the most affordable Civic, but it keeps the simpler standard tech and the more basic overall presentation.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim if you want the Civic’s stronger visual appeal and a more polished cabin without moving up to the pricier hybrid models.
• Sport Hybrid: Choose this if you want the hybrid powertrain’s stronger efficiency and more impressive overall power.
• Sport Touring Hybrid: This is the most feature-rich choice, with larger displays, Google built-in, wireless smartphone charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and the added parking-sensor and low-speed braking equipment.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim for the core safety suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Honda Civic?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 288 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.81% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $32,725 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $32,774 CAD sits slightly below last year's $34,794 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Civic has softened a bit, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect the market to reward condition, trim choice, and equipment more than simply owning the nameplate.

The Civic still has a strong reputation for holding value well over time, so depreciation should remain relatively controlled compared with many compact cars. Even so, the premium pricing means your resale outcome will depend heavily on how well your specific car is equipped and maintained.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic safe?

The 2026 Civic earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, including four-star frontal impact, five-star side impact, and five-star rollover resistance ratings.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every Civic, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane centring assist, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights are also standard.

One caveat is that the lane-centring assist can feel intrusive when used without adaptive cruise control, and the adaptive cruise control can brake more abruptly than you might like in heavier traffic.

Should I buy a 2026 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.81% compared with last year.
• The 2026 carries over unchanged after the 2025 update, so you are getting the latest version of this generation’s familiar formula.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $29,961 CAD, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $32,774 CAD average.
• It offers a clearer gas-only trim path and a strong balance of everyday usability and driver involvement.

The bottom line: choose the 2026 if you want the current-year market and are comfortable paying a bit more for it. If you are price-sensitive, the 2025 is the smarter path because it delivers much of the same Civic appeal for less money.
