Is the 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid a good car?

Yes — the 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid earns a 4.75/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

The 2026 CR-V Hybrid is positioned as a well-rounded compact crossover with a light refresh for 2026 and a new TrailSport trim level. It stands out for its hybrid powertrain, strong ride quality, and straightforward technology, which should suit you if you want a practical SUV that is easy to live with.

The main trade-offs are that it is not aimed at serious off-road use, and the cabin tech is limited compared with some rivals. It also does not include SiriusXM radio.

With 32.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a reasonable chance of finding a competitive offer if you shop carefully.

Is the 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2026 CR-V Hybrid is presented as a well-rounded, practical SUV with a hybrid system that improves the package without making it harder to live with. The expert assessment also points to a refined driving experience, with especially strong ride comfort and easy-to-use technology.

The performance notes also highlight that the hybrid system’s power delivery is smooth and that the earlier oil-dilution issue in Honda’s 1.5-litre turbo-four has been remedied. That said, the model’s long-term ownership risk for used buyers is mainly tied to its limited feature set and the fact that it is not built for heavy-duty use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The TrailSport Hybrid adds orange badges, grey 18-inch wheels, all-terrain tyres, black door handles, silver skid-plate-style trim, and orange contrast stitching with embroidered headrests. It is more about appearance and light traction help than serious off-road ability, so you should not expect rugged hardware at this trim.
• Powertrain: The hybrid trims use a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle engine with two electric motors for 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. The system is smooth and efficient, with multiple regenerative braking settings and a one-pedal driving option.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on every model and includes automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, traffic jam assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Front and rear parking sensors are standard only on the EX-L Hybrid and Touring Hybrid trims.
• Infotainment: All 2026 CR-Vs get a standard nine-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto. Touring Hybrid trims add Google built-in, and the TrailSport Hybrid, EX-L Hybrid, and Touring Hybrid get a 10.2-inch digital driver information display.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid comes in at 6.4 L/100 km combined on most models, while the TrailSport Hybrid is rated at 6.7 L/100 km combined.

Which 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport Hybrid, TrailSport Hybrid, EX-L Hybrid, and Touring Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• Sport Hybrid: This is the entry point to the hybrid lineup and the best-value choice if you want the core CR-V Hybrid experience without paying for extra luxury or tech features.
• TrailSport Hybrid: Choose this if you want the TrailSport look, all-terrain tyres, and a slightly more adventurous appearance, but keep in mind that it is not a true off-road model.
• EX-L Hybrid: This is the trim to target if you want a stronger mix of comfort and convenience, including the added parking sensors and the larger driver display.
• Touring Hybrid: Pick this if you want the most fully equipped version, including Google built-in and the premium audio system.

Front and rear parking sensors are standard only on the EX-L Hybrid and Touring Hybrid trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 519 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.01% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $48,659 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid's resale value?

The current average of $48,659 CAD sits slightly below last year's $51,225 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper resale expectations if you plan to sell in the near future. If you buy at the right price, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to the previous average.

For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, because the current trend shows the model is not appreciating. A well-equipped hybrid SUV with broad appeal should still attract interest, but your return will depend heavily on how much you pay now.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid safe?

The 2026 Honda CR-V had not been evaluated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or crash-tested by NHTSA at the time of writing, but the mechanically identical 2025 model received a Top Safety Pick designation from the IIHS and five stars for overall crashworthiness by the NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every model and includes automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, traffic jam assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Front and rear parking sensors are standard only on the EX-L Hybrid and Touring Hybrid trims.

One caveat is that the TrailSport does not add extra cameras, so you do not get forward-view or side-view trail angles. The rearview camera also has soft resolution.

Should I buy a 2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2026 model adds a light refresh and a new TrailSport trim level, while keeping the hybrid package efficient and easy to use.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version with the refreshed styling, standard nine-inch touchscreen, and the updated TrailSport option, the 2026 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may offer similar practicality for less money, but the 2026 gives you the freshest mix of efficiency, comfort, and simplicity.
