Why it stands out

The 2026 GMC Sierra 2500HD stands out as a heavy-duty pickup that leans more upscale than many rivals. GMC positions it with a broader range of trim levels and more upscale options and features than the related Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, and the Denali and Denali Ultimate trims are described as more luxurious than the Silverado’s top-tier High Country trim. That premium bent is part of what makes the Sierra 2500HD appealing if you want a work-capable truck that does not feel stripped down inside.

It also brings a strong mix of technology and comfort equipment. The truck is offered with Bluetooth, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Wi-Fi hotspot accessibility through the GMC infotainment system, while available features include remote keyless entry and rear-seat reminders. Higher-end versions can add a Bose premium audio system, power-adjustable front seats, chrome grille trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, and power-folding tailgate options. For buyers who want more capability-focused character, the AT4 models add off-road hardware and accessories such as skid plates, off-road suspension upgrades, and a more robust transfer case.

Under the bonnet, the 2026 GMC Sierra 2500HD comes with a 6.6-litre V8 gas engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, and it is also available with a 6.6-litre Duramax turbodiesel V8 engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission from Allison. Rear- and four-wheel drive are available, and the truck can be had in Regular Cab, Crew Cab, and Double Cab body styles with 7' or 8'2" cargo bed options. The main trade-off is that these trucks had very high MSRPs when new, and used examples can still be expensive; the generation is also known for issues including check engine lights, infotainment sluggishness, rough or delayed shifts, electrical glitches, MultiPro tailgate faults, and faulty trailer brake controllers.
