How much does the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox cost?

There are 401 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of choice.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Yes — you give it a 5/5 user rating, and our experts rate it 7.5/10. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The Equinox is a competently executed compact crossover that covers the basics well, with a stylish design, a well-executed interior, and easy-to-use technology. It is aimed at buyers who want a modern, balanced crossover rather than a segment leader.

The trade-offs are that it has less cargo space than rivals and fairly pedestrian performance, and the transmission can be irritating. Even so, 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Equinox is presented as a straightforward, mainstream crossover that focuses on doing the essentials well, and its expert assessment supports that impression. Its powertrain is described as adequate, and the cabin and technology are judged to be well executed for the segment.

Chevy’s cost-effectiveness notes also point to a competitive ownership proposition, including a fuel-consumption rating that sits in line with non-hybrid rivals. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the transmission and modest performance may be more noticeable as the vehicle ages and mileage climbs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Chevrolet Equinox?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LT, Activ, and RS each bring different styling and equipment. The LT is the most basic, with cloth seats and 17-inch wheels, while the Activ adds a more rugged look, all-terrain tyres, and unique microfibre and Evotex seating. The RS leans sportier with more black trim, a wider grille, standard Evotex upholstery, and a flat-bottom steering wheel.
• Powertrain: The only engine is a turbocharged 1.5-litre inline-four with 175 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is limited to the LT, while AWD is optional on LT and standard on Activ and RS. AWD models use an eight-speed automatic; FWD models use a CVT.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, high beam assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, and rear park assist. The Safety and Technology Package adds a surround-view camera system, digital rear-view mirror, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic sign recognition.
• Infotainment: You get an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch touchscreen, plus Google built-in apps, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto. The system is easy to use, and the layout is designed to be clear without overwhelming the cabin.
• Fuel efficiency: The Equinox is rated at 8.7 L/100 km combined, 9.2 L/100 km city, and 8.1 L/100 km highway. AWD models are rated at 8.9 L/100 km combined and 9.6 L/100 km city, with the same 8.1 L/100 km highway figure.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Equinox trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Equinox is offered in 3 trim levels: LT, Activ, and RS.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the value-focused choice if you want the lowest entry point and are happy with the standard equipment. It gives you the core Equinox experience, and AWD can be added if you want more traction without moving up to a higher trim.
• Activ: This is the best fit if you want the most distinctive look and the most rugged-leaning hardware. It adds all-terrain tyres, unique interior materials, and standard AWD, but its main off-road advantage is limited.
• RS: This is the pick if you want the sportiest appearance and the richest standard cabin presentation. It also comes with standard AWD and the most aggressive styling cues of the lineup.

The Safety and Technology Package is worth considering on any trim if you want the surround-view camera, digital rear-view mirror, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic sign recognition.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Chevrolet Equinox?

The market looks moderately favourable if you are a selective buyer.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 401 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.32% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $36,144 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $36,144 CAD sits slightly below last year's $43,716 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make today’s used prices more attractive for buyers but less favourable for sellers. If you plan to resell later, the current softness means your future return will depend heavily on how well the vehicle is equipped and maintained. A well-kept example with desirable features should still draw interest, but you should expect pricing pressure if the market stays soft.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox safe?

The 2026 Chevrolet Equinox received mixed safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, earning Good ratings in the updated moderate overlap front and side-impact tests, but Acceptable ratings in the whiplash and small overlap front tests.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, high beam assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, and rear park assist. GM also includes a vibrating driver’s seat for alerts and the Teen Driver system. The available Safety and Technology Package adds a surround-view camera system, digital rear-view mirror, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic sign recognition.

The mixed IIHS results are the main caveat to keep in mind if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2026 adds a standard drive mode selector and a new Polar White exterior colour.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $33,889 CAD, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $36,144 CAD average.
• It brings a fresher redesign with added standard tech and safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the newer year with softer pricing and a strong market selection, the 2026 makes sense. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2025 is the better value path, especially if you are comfortable with its earlier-generation pricing and feature set.
