How much does the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox cost?

Prices have softened 19.51% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 383 listings available, which suggests a modest but workable amount of inventory for shoppers.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Yes — the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal for everyday compact-crossover shoppers. It is a competently executed compact crossover SUV that focuses on polished basics rather than trying to redefine the segment, and its stylish design, well-executed interior, and easy-to-use technology are the main reasons it stands out. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The trade-offs are clear: it has less cargo space than rivals, an irritating transmission, and fairly pedestrian performance. Even so, it suits you well if you want a straightforward, polished daily crossover rather than something more adventurous or performance-focused.

With 37.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is a decent amount of market value to work with.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Equinox is presented as a well-rounded compact crossover that does the basics well, and the expert assessment reinforces that it is built around usability and overall execution. Its powertrain is described as adequate, and the chassis is tuned more for comfort and composure than excitement, which usually suits long-term everyday use. The infotainment and cabin controls are also laid out to be easy to live with.

Chevy’s cost-effectiveness notes also point to a practical ownership profile, with fuel consumption that is competitive for the class and no hybrid complexity to manage. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the same transmission and performance compromises that show up in testing may continue to shape your day-to-day experience.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Chevrolet Equinox?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LT, Activ, and RS each bring different styling and cabin touches. The LT is the simplest version, with cloth seats and 17-inch wheels, while the Activ adds a more rugged look, all-terrain tyres, and unique microfibre and Evotex seating. The RS leans sportier with more black trim, standard Evotex upholstery, and a flat-bottom steering wheel.
• Powertrain: You get a turbocharged 1.5-litre inline-four-cylinder engine with 175 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is limited to the LT, while AWD is optional on LT and standard on Activ and RS. AWD models use an eight-speed automatic, while FWD models use a CVT.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, high beam assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, and rear park assist. The Safety and Technology Package adds a surround-view camera system, a digital rear-view mirror, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic sign recognition.
• Infotainment: The Equinox has an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch touchscreen, plus Google built-in apps, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto. The setup is designed to be easy to use, with a shallow menu structure and clear icons.
• Fuel efficiency: The Equinox is rated at 8.7 L/100 km combined, 9.2 city, and 8.1 highway in FWD form. AWD models are rated at 8.9 L/100 km combined, 9.6 city, and 8.1 highway.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Equinox trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Equinox is offered in 3 trim levels: LT, Activ, RS.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and are happy with the core Equinox formula. It gives you the standard tech and safety equipment, and it is the only trim offered with front-wheel drive in Canada. If you want the best balance of price and everyday usefulness, this is the one to start with.
• Activ: This trim adds the most distinctive look, with a more rugged front fascia, all-terrain tyres, and unique interior materials. It suits you best if you care about style and want the most differentiated version, but the content suggests its off-road flavour is mostly cosmetic.
• RS: This is the sportier-looking choice, with more black trim, a wider grille, standard 19-inch wheels, and Evotex upholstery with red stitching. It is the right pick if you want the most aggressive appearance and a more upscale-feeling cabin.

The Safety and Technology Package adds a surround-view camera system, a digital rear-view mirror, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic sign recognition.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Chevrolet Equinox?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have some room to shop carefully without expecting deep scarcity.

• Deal availability: 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 383 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.51% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $36,581 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $36,581 CAD sits slightly below last year's $45,449 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price more competitively to stand out. If you buy now, you may be entering at a softer point in the cycle, which can help limit near-term depreciation pressure. The Equinox’s broad appeal and straightforward positioning should still support demand, especially for shoppers who value style and easy-to-use tech.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox safe?

The 2026 Chevrolet Equinox received mixed safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, with Good results in the updated moderate overlap front and side-impact tests and Acceptable results in the whiplash and small overlap front tests.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, high beam assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, and rear park assist. GM also includes a vibrating driver’s seat for alerts and the Teen Driver system. If you want more hardware, the Safety and Technology Package adds a surround-view camera system, a digital rear-view mirror, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic sign recognition.

The mixed IIHS results are the main caveat to keep in mind, especially the lower ratings in whiplash and small overlap front testing.

Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.51% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2026 keeps the redesigned Equinox’s polished interior, easy-to-use tech, and familiar compact-crossover formula.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $34,225 CAD, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $36,581 CAD average.
• It brings a fresh redesign with new standard tech and safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the more current market position and are shopping for value in the 2026, it makes sense to focus there first. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2025 is the better price-sensitive alternative and still delivers the redesign’s core strengths.
