Yes — the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

It fits you well if you want a straightforward, modern family vehicle with stylish design, a well-executed interior, and easy-to-use technology. The Equinox does the basics well, and its broad appeal comes from being competent rather than flashy.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Equinox is presented as a sensible, well-rounded compact crossover with a familiar turbocharged 1.5-litre setup and a balanced crossover role in GM’s lineup. Its performance is described as adequate, and the overall package is built around everyday usability rather than complexity.

Chevy also includes practical ownership touches such as the Teen Driver system, which can help families monitor driving habits. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the transmission behaviour and modest performance may remain part of the experience over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Chevrolet Equinox?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LT, Activ, and RS each bring different styling and equipment. The LT is the most basic, with cloth seats and 17-inch wheels, while the Activ adds a more rugged look, all-terrain tyres, and unique microfibre and Evotex seats. The RS leans sportier with more black trim, standard Evotex upholstery, and 19-inch wheels. If you want the best value, the LT is the simplest starting point, while the Activ makes the biggest visual statement.
• Powertrain: You get a turbocharged 1.5-litre inline-four with 175 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is limited to the LT, while AWD is optional on LT and standard on Activ and RS. AWD models use an eight-speed automatic, while FWD models use a CVT.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, high beam assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, and rear park assist. The Safety and Technology Package adds a surround-view camera system, a digital rear-view mirror, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic sign recognition.
• Infotainment: You get an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch touchscreen, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Google built-in apps are included, and the system supports over-the-air capability through its Android-based setup.
• Fuel efficiency: The Equinox is rated at 8.7 L/100 km combined, 9.2 city, and 8.1 highway. AWD models are rated at 8.9 L/100 km combined and 9.6 city, with the same 8.1 highway figure.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Equinox trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Equinox is offered in 3 trim levels: LT, Activ, and RS.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the best-value starting point if you want the lowest entry price and are fine with the most basic equipment. It gives you the core Equinox experience, standard tech, and the option to add AWD if you need it.
• Activ: Choose this if you like the more rugged appearance and want the unique interior treatment and all-terrain tyres. It is the most distinctive trim, but its off-road flavour is mostly cosmetic.
• RS: Pick this if you want the sportiest look, standard AWD, and the most aggressive styling details. It suits you best if appearance matters more than value.

The Safety and Technology Package adds useful features such as the surround-view camera system, digital rear-view mirror, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic sign recognition.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Chevrolet Equinox?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 343 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.29% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $36,777 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $36,777 CAD sits slightly below last year's $43,936 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also suggests sellers may need to be realistic when they list the vehicle later. If you buy at a strong price today, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit at resale.

The Equinox’s broad appeal, modern tech, and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand over time. Even so, its resale strength will depend on how well it competes on price against similarly equipped rivals.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox safe?

The 2026 Chevrolet Equinox received mixed safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, earning Good ratings in the updated moderate overlap front and side-impact tests and Acceptable ratings in the whiplash and small overlap front tests.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, high beam assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, and rear park assist. GM also includes a vibrating driver’s seat for alerts and the Teen Driver system.

The Safety and Technology Package adds a surround-view camera system, a digital rear-view mirror, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic sign recognition. The main caveat is the mixed IIHS result, especially the Acceptable ratings in whiplash and small overlap front testing.

Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.29% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the redesigned Equinox’s modern cabin, easy-to-use tech, and broad family appeal.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $34,553 CAD, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $36,777 CAD average.
• It launched the redesign with a more value-focused pitch and new standard tech.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year pricing context and are shopping for a well-equipped compact crossover, the 2026 is the cleaner choice. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2025 is the better path, especially if you find one with the features you want.
