Used 2025 Subaru Forester for Sale near New Brunswick

How much does the 2025 Subaru Forester cost?

Prices have softened 9.02% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 367 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Subaru Forester earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It builds on a familiar compact-crossover formula with a better-equipped base model, more advanced technology and safety offerings, and a quieter cabin. It also keeps standard all-wheel drive and confident handling in adverse conditions, which fits you well if you value surefootedness in poor weather or on rougher roads. The trade-offs are generic exterior design, dated infotainment graphics, and no hybrid options.

With 31.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 Forester’s appeal is rooted in a practical, well-established formula: standard symmetrical all-wheel drive, a practical cabin, and a strong emphasis on safety and everyday usability. Subaru also says the cabin is quieter for 2025, and the expert evaluation highlights that improvement as a meaningful refinement. The powertrain is straightforward, with a 2.5-litre Boxer four-cylinder engine, a CVT, and standard AWD, which keeps the mechanical package simple and familiar.

For ownership, that combination points to a used SUV that should be easy to live with if it has been maintained properly. The main long-term risk for used buyers is less about novelty and more about making sure the vehicle’s service history is clean and consistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Subaru Forester?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model comes with cloth upholstery, blue contrast stitching, and a simpler cabin setup, while the Sport adds StarTex material and bronze accents. Limited and Premier trims bring genuine leather seating surfaces, and the top trims also add more upscale exterior and interior touches.
• Powertrain: Every 2025 Forester uses a 2.5-litre Boxer four-cylinder engine with 180 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque, paired with Subaru’s CVT and standard Symmetrical AWD. Subaru’s X-Mode is standard in Canada, and the Sport and higher trims get a dual-function version.
• Safety package: Subaru’s EyeSight suite comes standard, with a wider field of view from a third standard camera and an electric brake booster. Blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist arrive at the Touring grade, while Emergency Stop Assist is limited to vehicles with the driver distraction-mitigation system.
• Infotainment: The base trim uses two 7-inch touchscreens with wired smartphone projection. All other trims get the 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Touring and up add dual front USB-A and USB-C ports plus a wireless charging pad, while Limited and Premier add navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the Forester at 9.1 L/100 km in the city, 7.2 L/100 km on the highway, and 8.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2025 Subaru Forester trim should I buy?

The 2025 Subaru Forester is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, Sport, Limited, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the value play if you want the Forester’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. You still get standard AWD, EyeSight, and the practical cabin layout, but you give up the larger 11.6-inch infotainment system and some of the nicer convenience upgrades found higher up the range.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim if you want the most appealing mix of style and equipment. It adds StarTex upholstery, bronze exterior accents, the larger infotainment system, and a more distinctive look without jumping all the way to the luxury-oriented trims.
• Limited: This trim is the sweet spot if you want a more upscale Forester. It adds leather seating surfaces, navigation, and the driver-distraction mitigation system that unlocks Emergency Stop Assist.
• Premier: Choose this if you want the most fully equipped Forester, with the highest level of comfort and convenience features, including the top-end audio and the most premium presentation.

Safety-package note: Blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist come in at the Touring grade, while Emergency Stop Assist is only available on vehicles equipped with the driver distraction-mitigation system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 367 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.02% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,005 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $38,005 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,772 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the used market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations. If you buy now, you’re entering at a lower average price than a year ago, which can help reduce depreciation pressure over the near term. The Forester’s practical reputation and standard AWD should help support demand, especially among shoppers who want a capable compact SUV rather than a flashy one.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Subaru Forester safe?

The 2025 Subaru Forester is too new as of this writing to have been crash-tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight suite comes standard, and for 2025 it gains a wider field of view thanks to a third standard camera that can spot cyclists and pedestrians earlier. A rear seat reminder system is also included, and an electric brake booster has been added. Emergency Stop Assist is available on vehicles equipped with the driver distraction-mitigation system, and that effectively limits it to the Limited and Premier trims. Blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist arrive at the Touring grade.

Should I buy a 2025 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a quieter cabin, a better-equipped base model, and more advanced safety and tech.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds rugged Wilderness capability with all-terrain tyres and more off-road hardware.

The bottom line: If you want the most balanced used Forester right now, the 2025 is the safer bet because it improves on the outgoing model without changing the formula too much. If your priority is value, the softer pricing and decent inventory make it worth shopping carefully now; if you want more rugged capability, the next year points in a different direction.
