Used 2025 Subaru Forester for Sale nearBurnaby, BC

How much does the 2025 Subaru Forester cost?

Prices have softened 7.87% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 406 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2025 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — with a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating, the 2025 Subaru Forester looks like a strong fit if you want a practical compact crossover that prioritises consistency over flash. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

The 2025 model builds on the outgoing version with a better-equipped base model, more advanced tech and safety offerings, and a quieter cabin. Standard all-wheel drive remains a major advantage, and the Forester is described as handling confidently in adverse conditions, which suits you well if you value easy year-round usability.

The trade-offs are clear: the styling is fairly generic, the infotainment graphics are dated, and there is no hybrid option available. Even so, the Forester’s sensible, well-rounded character makes it appealing if you want usefulness rather than novelty.

With 36.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2025 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 Forester’s reliability case is built around continuity: it refines a familiar formula rather than introducing a radically new one. Subaru also emphasises improved refinement for 2025, including a quieter cabin, which supports the impression of a more mature and settled vehicle.

From an expert perspective, the Forester’s standard all-wheel drive, confident adverse-weather behaviour, and practical design all point to a model that should be straightforward to live with. The performance notes also suggest the powertrain is tuned for steady everyday use rather than drama, which can be a plus for long-term ownership.

If you buy used, the main ownership risk is less about complexity and more about choosing a well-kept example that has been maintained consistently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Subaru Forester?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Forester comes with cloth upholstery and two 7-inch touchscreens, while higher trims add more premium materials, larger wheels, and a more upscale cabin. The Sport trim gets StarTex material and bronze accents, while Limited and Premier bring genuine leather seating surfaces.
• Powertrain: Every 2025 Forester uses a 2.5-litre Boxer four-cylinder engine with 180 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque, paired with Subaru’s Lineartonic CVT and standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. X-Mode is standard in Canada, and the Sport and higher trims get a dual-function version.
• Safety package: Subaru’s EyeSight suite comes standard, with a wider field of view from a third standard camera that helps the system spot cyclists and pedestrians earlier. Adaptive cruise control is standard, while Emergency Stop Assist is only available on vehicles equipped with the driver distraction-mitigation system, which limits it to Limited and Premier trims. Blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist come in at the Touring grade.
• Infotainment: The 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus infotainment system is standard on all but the base trim and includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The base model uses two 7-inch touchscreens with wired smartphone projection. Touring and up add dual USB-A and USB-C ports up front plus a wireless charging pad.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the Forester at 9.1 L/100 km in the city, 7.2 L/100 km on the highway, and 8.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2025 Subaru Forester trim should I buy?

The 2025 Subaru Forester is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, Sport, Limited, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the value-focused starting point if you want standard all-wheel drive, the 2.5-litre Boxer engine, EyeSight, and the core Forester formula without paying for extra tech or comfort features.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim if you want a more distinctive look and a better-equipped cabin, including StarTex material, bronze accents, and the 11.6-inch infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity.
• Limited: This trim makes sense if you want a more premium feel, with leather seating surfaces, navigation, and access to Emergency Stop Assist through the driver distraction-mitigation system.
• Premier: Choose this if you want the most upscale Forester, with the top-end equipment set, including the 11-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and the most complete feature list.

The Touring grade adds blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist, while Limited and Premier are the trims tied to Emergency Stop Assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 406 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.87% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,923 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $37,923 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,161 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you if you’re buying now, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about where the market has settled. If prices remain near today’s level, resale values should be supported by the Forester’s broad appeal and practical reputation rather than by rapid appreciation.

For you as an owner, the key takeaway is that the Forester’s value story is steady rather than speculative. A well-kept example should remain easy to market because it fits the needs of shoppers who want standard all-wheel drive, practicality, and a sensible ownership experience.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Subaru Forester safe?

The 2025 Subaru Forester is too new as of this writing to have been crash-tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight suite of advanced driver-assistance technology comes standard, and for 2025 it gains a wider field of view thanks to a third standard camera that can spot cyclists and pedestrians earlier. A rear seat reminder system is also included, and an electric brake booster has been added.

A key safety upgrade is Emergency Stop Assist, which is available when adaptive cruise control is in use and the driver distraction-mitigation system is fitted. If the system detects that you are unresponsive, it will try to regain your attention first, then slow the vehicle to a stop, notify emergency services, activate the hazard lights, and unlock the doors.

There is one trim-level caveat to keep in mind: Emergency Stop Assist is limited to Limited and Premier trims, while blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist arrive at the Touring grade.

Should I buy a 2025 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a better-equipped base model, more advanced tech and safety offerings, and a quieter cabin.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds a rugged Wilderness focus with more off-road hardware and traction upgrades.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, standard all-wheel drive, and updated safety and tech, the 2025 is the smarter primary choice. If your priorities lean toward more specialised rugged capability, the 2026 is the one to watch, but price-sensitive buyers will likely find the 2025 easier to justify today.
