Is the 2025 Nissan Pathfinder a good car?

The 2025 Nissan Pathfinder earns an expert rating of 7.3/10.

The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It’s a well-rounded three-row SUV that focuses on value, practicality, and everyday usability, with excellent cargo capacity, comfortable seating, and a competitive price. The trade-offs are that it doesn’t have a single standout feature that clearly puts it ahead of rivals, and its on-road composure and tech are less impressive than some competitors.

With 36.1% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you a fair number of attractive options to consider.

Is the 2025 Nissan Pathfinder reliable?

The Pathfinder is described as a tried-and-true SUV with a 3.5-litre V6 that mechanics should know well, and parts should be readily available. It also delivers a solid, reliable experience across ownership, with a balanced package that avoids major weak spots.

For used buyers, that points to manageable long-term ownership risk if you choose a well-maintained example and stay on top of routine service.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Nissan Pathfinder?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S, SV, Rock Creek, SL, Platinum, and Captain’s Chairs trims differ mainly in comfort, appearance, and convenience. The base S and SV use cloth seats, while the Rock Creek adds leatherette-and-cloth upholstery and a more adventurous look. The SL and Platinum bring more upscale cabin materials, and the Platinum adds the most premium touches.
• Powertrain: Every Pathfinder uses a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 with a nine-speed automatic. Output varies by trim, and the Rock Creek gets more power than the lower trims. The base S has lower towing capacity than the rest, while the other trims benefit from the enhanced towing setup.
• Safety package: Every trim gets blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, and ProPilot Assist. Traffic sign recognition is standard only on the SL and Platinum.
• Infotainment: Screen size is 8 inches on the S, SV, and Rock Creek, and 9 inches on the SL and Platinum. Wireless Apple CarPlay is limited to the 9-inch screen, and only Apple devices are supported wirelessly. Navigation is standard only on the SL and Platinum.
• Fuel efficiency: The Rock Creek returns 11.9 L/100 km in city driving, 10.0 L/100 km on the highway, and 11.1 L/100 km combined. Other trims return 11.7 L/100 km city, 9.3 L/100 km highway, and 10.6 L/100 km combined.

Which 2025 Nissan Pathfinder trim should I buy?

The 2025 Nissan Pathfinder is offered in 6 trim levels: S, SV, Rock Creek, SL, Platinum, and Captain’s Chairs.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the Pathfinder’s core value proposition, including standard all-wheel drive and the full safety suite. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest price and can live without the extra comfort and tech features.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds useful everyday upgrades without pushing the price too far up the ladder. It also gets the moonroof, which helps it feel more complete than the S.
• Rock Creek: This is the trim to choose if you want the most distinctive look and a more adventurous personality. It adds all-terrain tyres, a roof rack, and a tougher visual treatment, but it’s less composed on-road and not as efficient as the other trims.
• SL: This is the smart step-up if you want a more premium feel and better tech. It adds leather seats, the larger touchscreen, navigation, and traffic sign recognition, making it a strong middle ground.
• Platinum: This is the most luxurious Pathfinder, with quilted semi-aniline leather, ventilation, the best instrument display, and the most available tech. It suits you if comfort and features matter more than value.
• Captain’s Chairs: This version is for buyers who specifically want second-row captain’s chairs and are willing to pay extra for that seating layout.

Traffic sign recognition is standard only on the SL and Platinum.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Nissan Pathfinder?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 332 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.29% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $49,643 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Nissan Pathfinder's resale value?

The current average of $49,643 CAD sits slightly below last year's $55,340 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Pathfinder has become more affordable for used buyers, which can help you get more vehicle for your money today. For a future seller, though, it also means you should expect some depreciation pressure if you buy at the current average and sell again soon. If resale matters to you, a well-priced example bought near the low end of the range will give you a better cushion later.

Is the 2025 Nissan Pathfinder safe?

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Pathfinder trim comes with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, and ProPilot Assist. Traffic sign recognition is standard on the SL and Platinum trims.

Should I buy a 2025 Nissan Pathfinder or consider a different year?

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.29% compared with last year.
• It combines strong value, excellent safety, and slight updates that make it more appealing.
