Used 2025 Nissan Altima for Sale nearKirkland Lake, ON

Is the 2025 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Nissan Altima earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 8/10.

It stands out mainly as one of the few remaining midsize sedans trying to compete in a market dominated by compact crossover SUVs, and Nissan’s Canadian lineup adds the 2025 Altima SR Premium trim to help keep it relevant. The appeal is built around stylish design, comfortable front seats, and easy-to-use technology, plus standard AWD in Canada for added all-weather confidence.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, the interior materials feel cheap, and the technology is outdated. For you, that means the Altima makes the most sense if you want a sedan rather than a crossover and value comfort, styling, and AWD over excitement or a more modern cabin.

31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 Altima is positioned as a straightforward, familiar midsize sedan rather than a complicated one, and its Canadian setup centres on a single 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with standard AWD and a CVT. That simple mechanical formula can be appealing if you want fewer moving parts than a more complex powertrain lineup.

Its performance is described as unremarkable but competent: the engine provides decent acceleration, the CVT rarely irritates, and the car is quieter than expected. The ownership picture is helped by the fact that Nissan’s Canadian lineup keeps the Altima mechanically consistent, but the model’s age and rumoured end-of-life timing mean you should pay close attention to condition, maintenance history, and wear items when shopping used.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Nissan Altima?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Canadian lineup includes S, SR, SR Premium, and Platinum. The base setup is missing leather seats and the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, while SR Premium adds more desirable cabin and tech upgrades.
• Powertrain: Every Canadian Altima uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with standard AWD and a CVT. It is tuned for everyday use rather than strong performance, so you should expect competent, not sporty, driving.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic rear braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. SR Premium adds ProPilot Assist 1.0, and Platinum adds a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: The standard system uses an 8-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a six-speaker stereo. SR Premium and Platinum upgrade to a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, NissanConnect services, and navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The Altima AWD should burn 8.2 L/100 km in S trim and 8.4 L/100 km in other trims in combined driving.

Which 2025 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2025 Nissan Altima is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SR, SR Premium, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and are comfortable with the basic 8-inch infotainment system and standard equipment. It gives you the core Altima formula without extra frills.
• SR: Choose this if you want a sportier look and feel, including 19-inch wheels and sport-bolstered front seats, while still keeping the Altima’s core value proposition intact.
• SR Premium: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the better 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, NissanConnect services, navigation, the nine-speaker Bose audio system, and ProPilot Assist 1.0.
• Platinum: Pick this if you want the most fully equipped Altima, including the upgraded infotainment and the surround-view camera system.

The safety-package step-up is important here: ProPilot Assist 1.0 is tied to SR Premium, while the surround-view camera system is reserved for Platinum.

Is the 2025 Nissan Altima safe?

The 2025 Nissan Altima earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, including a five-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard on every Altima, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic rear braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. SR Premium adds ProPilot Assist 1.0 with adaptive cruise control, stop-and-go capability, and lane-centring assist, while Platinum adds a surround-view camera system.

There are also important caveats. The Altima gets a Poor rating in recently updated evaluations related to side impact protection and front crash prevention, and it gets a Marginal rating in an updated moderate offset frontal-impact test. The automatic rear braking system is also described as too sensitive in tight parking situations.

Should I buy a 2025 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Nissan adds the SR Premium trim to strengthen the lineup with better tech and driver assistance.

Consider the 2024 if:

• It offers value, standard AWD in Canada, and an upgraded touchscreen on higher trims.

The bottom line: If you want the newest Altima with the refreshed Canadian trim walk and the strongest mix of comfort, AWD, and available tech, the 2025 is the better pick. If you are shopping mainly on price, the 2024 can still make sense because it delivers much of the same core appeal and may cost less on the used market.
