Summary

Why it stands out
The 2025 Mazda MAZDA3 stands out by making a small, affordable, efficient car feel genuinely rewarding to drive. It is available in four-door sedan and five-door hatchback body styles, and the range spans basic or upscale versions, turbocharged or not, with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Across the lineup, the common threads are quality, refinement, sophistication, safety, and enjoyable driving dynamics, which gives the Mazda3 a broader appeal than many compact cars.
It is also a car that has aged gracefully. Although it was last redesigned for the 2019 model year, it still looks, feels, and drives better than some rivals. For 2025, GT and higher trims in Canada get Amazon Alexa Built-in, and the Sport hatchback adds the Suna Edition as the top model based on the GT Turbo. Those updates help keep it current, but the Mazda3’s core strengths remain its stylish design, fun-to-drive character, and strong safety reputation.
There are still trade-offs to consider. The back seat is cramped, rear visibility is poor, and the technology is described as outdated. Even so, the 2025 Mazda MAZDA3 remains a compelling choice for buyers who want a compact car that feels more polished and more engaging than its price might suggest.

Exceptional driving experience. The most balanced, precision crafted steering wheel system of any cars I have ever owned (25 of them). Drives better than most acclaimed German machines out there.Mazda cars are very enjoyable to drive, yet these models are ones of the most underrated and undervalued vehicles yet. Amazing Mazda vehicles. They're excellent values, but folks have to give Mazda cars chances. Drive one. The issues I have with the current models are: 1). There's no 6 Speed Manual with the 2.5 Turbo AWD Premium Plus trim models. 2). Please, bring CD ( Compact Disc) entertainment back in all Mazdas. 3). Add colors to the interior design. It's too bland, monotonous, monochromatic, and boring. The only comparisons out there to the superb driving of Mazda vehicles are Nissan Altima SR, Audi S3 and BMW M340.

Excellent value. You only have to move up one trim level from the base to get leatherette seats. All the safety features. I was comparing against a Honda Civic and a Toyota Corolla. This was clearly the better deal.

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 172 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2025 Mazda MAZDA3 a good car?
Yes — the 2025 Mazda MAZDA3 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.
It stands out as a compact car that feels more polished and more engaging than many rivals, with sedan and hatchback body styles, basic or upscale versions, and turbocharged or non-turbocharged choices. The trade-offs are a cramped back seat and poor rear visibility, while the technology is also described as outdated.
The model’s 36.0% good-or-great deal share suggests there are still worthwhile listings to find.
Is the 2025 Mazda MAZDA3 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2025 Mazda MAZDA3 is presented as a car that has aged gracefully, with quality, refinement, sophistication, and enjoyable driving dynamics carrying through the lineup. Its standard powertrain is described as smooth, quiet, and refined, and the car is also characterised as communicative, predictable, trustworthy, and tossable on the road.
Mazda’s complimentary two-year subscription to Mazda Connected Services is standard in Canada, which adds some ownership value. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical character and more about living with its cramped rear seat and dated technology.
What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda MAZDA3?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: GX, GS, GT, and the hatchback-exclusive Suna Edition are the key trims to compare. The base setup is more basic, while higher trims add more upscale equipment and features; the GT and above trims in Canada also get Amazon Alexa Built-in.
- Powertrain: You can shop non-turbo and turbocharged versions of the 2.5-litre four-cylinder. The standard engine is smooth and refined, while the turbo adds much stronger output but requires premium gas for full performance.
- Safety package: Mazda’s standard driver-assistance suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and driver attention alert. The manual-transmission test car did not include stop-and-go capability, and lane centring assist is also unavailable.
- Infotainment: Mazda Connect uses an 8.8-inch or 10.25-inch display depending on version. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can be used by touch, and wireless connectivity for those platforms is available only on GT trim or higher.
- Fuel efficiency: The manual transmission is rated at 7.8 L/100 km in combined driving.
Which 2025 Mazda MAZDA3 trim should I buy?
The 2025 Mazda MAZDA3 is offered in 4 trim levels: GX, GS, GT, and Suna Edition.
Here's the short version:
- GX: This is the entry point if you want the Mazda3’s core strengths at the lowest rung of the range. It gives you the same stylish design, refined driving character, and standard safety suite, but it is the trim most likely to leave you wanting more convenience and tech.
- GS: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more flexibility, including the option of AWD, while staying close to the Mazda3’s sweet spot of price, refinement, and everyday usability.
- GT: This is the trim to choose if you want the most rounded mix of equipment and capability. It is where the optional turbocharged engine comes in, and it is also the gateway to wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Suna Edition: This hatchback-exclusive model sits at the top of the range and is aimed at buyers who want the most distinctive version of the Mazda3 Sport, with the GT Turbo as its foundation.
The safety package remains a major strength across the lineup, but the manual-transmission test car did not include stop-and-go capability, and lane centring assist is unavailable.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mazda MAZDA3?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should be able to shop patiently and still find decent options.
- Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 172 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $27,426 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2025 Mazda MAZDA3's resale value?
The current average of $28,444 CAD sits slightly above last year's $28,321 CAD.
That small increase suggests the Mazda3 has held its value fairly well rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of stability can be helpful because it points to a market that is neither overheated nor collapsing. If you buy well, you may have a better chance of exiting the car without taking an outsized hit.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2025 Mazda MAZDA3 safe?
The 2025 Mazda MAZDA3 earns a “Top Safety Pick+” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the highest possible rating, and the maximum five stars in all National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) crash tests, including rollover resistance.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and driver attention alert. Because of the manual transmission in our test car, it did not include stop-and-go capability, and lane centring assist is also unavailable.
Should I buy a 2025 Mazda MAZDA3 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2025 if:
- 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- GT and higher trims in Canada get Amazon Alexa Built-in, while the Sport hatchback adds the Suna Edition.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $26,702 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $28,444 CAD average.
- It offers a rare mix of body styles, drivetrains, and engines.
Consider the 2026 if:
- It brings a cabin that could easily be mistaken for entry-level luxury fare.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current-market stability, safety, and broad trim choice, the 2025 is the primary pick. If your priority is lower purchase price, the 2024 is the better value play, while the 2026 is worth a look if you want the freshest-feeling cabin and can stretch for it.
