How much does the 2025 Mazda CX-90 cost?

Prices have softened 19.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 442 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-90 a good car?

The 2025 Mazda CX-90 earns a 6.2/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It stands out in the midsize three-row SUV class because Mazda gives you unusual powertrain choices, a stylish design, and premium interior materials. The trade-offs are a base engine that feels underwhelming, noisy operation, and unintuitive technology.

For buyers who want a distinctive family SUV with a more polished character, it makes sense to cross-shop carefully rather than expect a conventional mainstream setup. 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to find value.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-90 reliable?

The CX-90 is positioned as a premium-feeling three-row SUV, and Mazda’s focus on design and safety helps support confidence in long-term ownership. The expert assessment also points to strong driving dynamics and impressive safety ratings.

At the same time, the powertrain is described as unrefined, especially before it warms up, and the transmission behaviour can be unpredictable. That means used buyers should pay close attention to how the SUV drives in real-world conditions, since refinement concerns could matter more over time.

The performance notes also say the drivetrain can feel lacking in isolation from noise and impact harshness, which is worth checking on a test drive.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-90?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes GS-L, GS, GT, GT-P, and Signature. The lower trims use a smaller infotainment screen and traditional gauges, while the higher trims bring a more upscale cabin with features such as a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Base trims also miss some of the richer equipment found higher up the range.
• Powertrain: You can shop standard-output and high-output 3.3-litre turbocharged inline-six versions, plus a plug-in hybrid. The standard engine makes 280 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, while the high-output version delivers 319 hp and 369 lb-ft, or 340 hp on premium gas.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam headlights. Higher trims add steering assist for blind-spot monitoring, emergency lane-keeping assist, safe exit warning, front cross-traffic alert, front parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: Higher trims can bring a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system. The native Mazda Connect system is not touch-operated, and the voice recognition system does not meet modern expectations.
• Fuel efficiency: The official Natural Resources Canada rating is 9.3 L/100 km combined with the standard-output engine and 9.5 L/100 km combined with the high-output version. The plug-in hybrid is rated at 9.4 L/100 km combined once the battery is depleted.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-90 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-90 is offered in 5 trim levels: GS-L, GS, GT, GT-P, and Signature.

Here's the short version:

• GS-L: This is the entry point if you want the CX-90’s core design, safety equipment, and unusual powertrain choices without stretching to the pricier trims.
• GS: This trim adds more equipment while staying below the luxury-leaning upper models, making it a sensible middle-ground choice.
• GT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it balances features and price while keeping the CX-90’s premium feel intact.
• GT-P: Choose this if you want the high-output 3.3 Turbo, since that engine is standard here and brings stronger performance.
• Signature: This is the most upscale choice, with the richest cabin presentation and the most complete feature set.

As you move up the range, Mazda adds more advanced safety equipment, including steering assist for blind-spot monitoring, emergency lane-keeping assist, safe exit warning, front cross-traffic alert, front parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mazda CX-90?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 442 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.01% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,767 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mazda CX-90's resale value?

The current average of $41,767 CAD sits slightly below last year's $51,573 CAD.

That drop suggests the CX-90 has become more affordable for used buyers, which can help you get more SUV for your money today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect a softer resale position than last year’s market. If you buy well now, you may still be able to limit your loss by choosing a lower-priced listing and avoiding overpaying at the top of the range.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-90 safe?

The 2025 Mazda CX-90 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS, and the CX-90 PHEV earns five-star ratings in all crash tests conducted by NHTSA, as well as a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda includes a long list of standard driver aids: forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam headlights.

Higher trims add steering assist to blind-spot monitoring, emergency lane-keeping assist, safe exit warning, front cross-traffic alert, front parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system. Cruising and Traffic Support is also available on higher trims, pairing adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist for hands-on highway driving.

One caveat is that the gas-only CX-90 models get four-star ratings in frontal-impact testing from NHTSA.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.01% compared with last year.
• It blends unusual powertrains, premium design, and strong safety ratings.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $40,104 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $41,767 CAD average.
• It prioritizes driving enjoyment and handling.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It keeps the premium look and feel while adding minor lineup updates.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of style, safety, and current-market value, the 2025 is the main target. If price matters most, the 2024 is the better bargain; if you want the latest minor updates, look to the 2026.
