How much does the 2025 Mazda CX-50 cost?

Prices have softened 7.15% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 310 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of choice.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mazda CX-50 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.

It stands out as a compact SUV that blends style, driving enjoyment, and efficiency, and it brings a more engaging character than many rivals. The 2025 model’s hybrid powertrain adds fuel efficiency to an already sporty package, while its attractive styling helps it feel more premium than its class might suggest.

The trade-offs are clear: it has limited rear-seat space and not much cargo space, and its technology is described as outdated. If you want a refined, fun-to-drive compact SUV and can live with those compromises, it fits that brief well.

35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 is presented as a refined, well-rounded compact SUV with a sporty character and a premium-leaning cabin. Its hybrid powertrain is described as a smart move because it uses a proven system, and the driving experience is tuned to feel confident and engaging without becoming harsh.

The powertrain is described as the same engine and hybrid system found in the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, which points to a familiar and established setup. In Canada, the hybrid also comes with a wireless charging pad standard, and the fuel-economy gains help reduce running costs over time.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the CX-50’s practicality limits may matter more as your needs change than any mechanical concern.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-50?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base GS-L trim gets the essentials, while the GT trim adds a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system and a more upscale feel. If you want the best value, the GS-L is the trim to focus on first.
• Powertrain: The hybrid uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with three electric motors, 219 horsepower, 163 lb-ft of torque, and AWD. It is tuned for efficiency and everyday drivability rather than serious off-road use.
• Safety package: All CX-50 models come with frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a driver attention monitor, and automatic high beams.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.25-inch horizontal infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and touchscreen functionality only when using those phone integrations. The system is controlled primarily by a centre-console dial.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is estimated at 6.2 L/100 km combined, compared with 8.9 L/100 km combined for the standard engine and 9.4 L/100 km combined for the turbo.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-50 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 is offered in 2 trim levels: GS-L and GT.

Here's the short version:

• GS-L: This is the best-value choice if you want the hybrid’s efficiency and the core safety and tech features without paying for the top trim’s extras.
• GT: Choose this if you want the more premium experience, including the 12-speaker Bose audio system and the highest-spec feel in the lineup.

All CX-50 models come with the standard driver-assistance suite, so you do not need to move up a trim for the core safety equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mazda CX-50?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should be able to shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 310 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.15% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,686 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mazda CX-50's resale value?

The current average of $41,888 CAD sits slightly below last year's $45,116 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you if you are buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices continue to ease. A model with a clear value story and strong efficiency can still hold buyer interest, especially when it offers a premium feel and a strong reputation for driving enjoyment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 safe?

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA evaluations except rollover protection, where it receives four stars, and the IIHS gives all versions a Top Safety Pick+ rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

All CX-50 models come with frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a driver attention monitor, and automatic high beams. In testing, the adaptive cruise control is noted for smooth acceleration and stops.

The rollover result is the main caveat to keep in mind, even though the overall safety picture is strong.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-50 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 adds an efficient hybrid powertrain to the CX-50 lineup.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $37,438 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $41,888 CAD average.
• It offers a rugged, outdoorsy character with standard all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: If you want the more efficient and better-equipped version of the CX-50 formula, the 2025 is the stronger pick. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2024 is the better value-oriented alternative, especially if you like the CX-50’s rugged, practical personality.
