How much does the 2025 Mazda CX-50 cost?

Prices have softened 8.85% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mazda CX-50 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.

It stands out as a compact SUV that blends sporty character with a more premium feel, and it is described as a fun yet refined choice in the class. The cabin has a near-luxury personality, which helps it feel more upscale than many rivals.

The trade-offs are clear: limited cargo room and limited rear-seat space, plus technology that is described as outdated. Even so, it suits you well if you want a more engaging small SUV with a polished personality rather than maximum practicality.

With 31.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to find attractive pricing.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-50’s reliability case is helped by its established hybrid hardware and its overall positioning as a refined, well-rounded compact SUV. The hybrid powertrain is described as the same engine and hybrid system used in the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, which is a reassuring sign for durability-minded shoppers.

Its performance tuning is also presented as smooth and confidence-inspiring, with quick throttle response and a transmission designed to mimic a conventional automatic. The fuel-saving hybrid setup should also reduce strain on your budget over time.

If you plan to keep it for the long haul, the main ownership risk is less about mechanical drama and more about living with its tighter space and older-feeling tech.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-50?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base GS-L trim gets the hybrid’s core appeal, while the GT trim adds a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system and more upscale equipment. The red leather upholstery is exclusive to the hybrid model.
• Powertrain: The hybrid uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with three electric motors, making 219 horsepower, 163 lb-ft of torque, and AWD. It is tuned for efficiency and everyday pace rather than serious off-road use.
• Safety package: All models include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a driver attention monitor, and automatic high beams. There are no trim-level safety gaps noted.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.25-inch horizontal infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless charging pad on CX-50 Hybrid models in Canada. Touchscreen use is limited to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is estimated at 6.2 L/100 km combined, versus 8.9 L/100 km for the standard engine and 9.4 L/100 km for the turbo.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-50 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 is offered in 2 trim levels: GS-L and GT.

Here's the short version:

• GS-L: This is the value pick if you want the hybrid’s efficiency and core safety and tech features without stretching to the top trim. It gives you the main reason to buy the hybrid in the first place.
• GT: This is the better choice if you want the most upscale CX-50 Hybrid, especially because it adds the 12-speaker Bose premium system and the most complete equipment list.

All CX-50 models come with the same standard driver-assistance suite, so your trim choice is mostly about comfort, audio, and convenience rather than safety.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mazda CX-50?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 273 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.85% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,775 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mazda CX-50's resale value?

The current average of $41,895 CAD sits slightly below last year's $45,965 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favourable point in the cycle. If prices stabilise, a well-kept CX-50 Hybrid could hold its value better than a less distinctive compact SUV because it combines style, efficiency, and a more premium feel.

For a future seller, the key is to preserve the qualities buyers are already paying for: condition, mileage, and a clean history. A model with strong demand and a clear efficiency advantage should remain easier to move than a more ordinary rival.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 safe?

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid earned Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS and five-star ratings in all NHTSA evaluations except rollover protection, where it received four stars.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

All models come with frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a driver attention monitor, and automatic high beams. In testing, the systems functioned as designed with no false alarms, and the adaptive cruise control was noted for smooth acceleration and stops.

The main caveat is the four-star rollover result from NHTSA, which is worth keeping in mind if safety is a top priority for you.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-50 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The hybrid powertrain adds fuel efficiency to an already sporty, near-luxury package.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $37,826 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $41,895 CAD average.
• It aims to balance ruggedness with everyday usability.

The bottom line: Choose the 2025 if you want the hybrid’s efficiency, stronger value trend, and more polished overall appeal. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2024 is the better budget-conscious path, especially if you can live without the newer hybrid setup.
