How much does the 2025 Mazda CX-50 cost?

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mazda CX-50 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.

It stands out as a compact SUV that blends style, driving enjoyment, and efficiency, with a more engaging character than many rivals and attractive styling that helps it feel more premium than its class might suggest. The hybrid powertrain adds fuel efficiency to an already sporty package, and the cabin is described as near-luxury in feel.

The trade-offs are limited cargo space and limited rear-seat space, so it suits you best if you value a refined, fun-to-drive compact SUV more than maximum utility. Its technology is also described as outdated, which may matter if you want the latest convenience features.

With 32.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s a meaningful share of attractive inventory to consider.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 is presented as a well-rounded compact SUV with a strong emphasis on driving enjoyment and efficiency, and the expert assessment supports that with a solid 6.5/10 overall score. Its hybrid powertrain is described as potent yet efficient, and the system is noted for smooth, confidence-inspiring operation in everyday driving.

The performance content also points to a smartly engineered hybrid setup that uses an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission designed to mimic a conventional automatic. In practice, that kind of tuning can help the vehicle feel familiar and easy to live with over time.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about mechanical character and more about whether the limited space and older-feeling technology will still suit your needs after the novelty wears off.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-50?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin uses a traditional layout with classier materials than rivals, and red leather upholstery is exclusive to the hybrid model. Base trims are more basic, while the GT trim adds a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system.
• Powertrain: The hybrid version uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with three electric motors, 219 horsepower, 163 lb-ft of torque, and all-wheel drive. It is tuned for engaging handling rather than serious off-road use.
• Safety package: All models include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a driver attention monitor, and automatic high beams. There are no trim-level gaps noted in this equipment list.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.25-inch horizontal infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and touchscreen functionality only when using those phone integrations. A wireless charging pad is standard on CX-50 Hybrid models in Canada.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is estimated at 6.2 litres per 100 kilometres combined, compared with 8.9 L/100 km combined for the standard engine and 9.4 L/100 km combined for the turbo.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-50 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 is offered in 2 trim levels: GS-L and GT.

Here's the short version:

• GS-L: This is the better-value choice if you want the hybrid’s efficiency and standard all-wheel drive without stretching to the top trim. It gives you the core appeal of the CX-50 Hybrid in a more accessible package.
• GT: Choose this if you want the most upscale version, especially because it adds the 12-speaker Bose premium audio system and sits at the top of the range.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim for the core driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mazda CX-50?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, especially if you are willing to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 312 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.32% compared with last year.

What is the 2025 Mazda CX-50's resale value?

The current average of $41,742 CAD sits slightly below last year's $45,528 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier for future sellers to attract attention if the vehicle is well kept. At the same time, the lower average price means you should expect resale values to reflect a more competitive market rather than a premium one.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 safe?

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA evaluations except rollover protection, where it receives a four-star rating, and the IIHS gives it a Top Safety Pick+ rating.

All models come with frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a driver attention monitor, and automatic high beams. The adaptive cruise control is described as smooth in both acceleration and stopping.

The main caveat is the rollover result, which is slightly lower than the rest of the crash-test performance.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-50 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 adds an efficient hybrid powertrain to the CX-50 lineup.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $37,176 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $41,742 CAD average.
• It offers a rugged, outdoorsy feel with standard all-wheel drive and a classy interior.

The 2025 is the better pick if you want the hybrid efficiency and the latest version of the CX-50’s sporty, premium-leaning character. If your priority is lower purchase price and you can live without the newer hybrid setup, the 2024 is the more budget-friendly route.
